Well, I'm not actually the one driving this, I'm just a lowly supporter, lol...

I guess someone needs to compile a format for the layout of the sub-forum, with specific groups and topics to break the threads into, to give to the developer. I'm an anime noobie, so I don't know what all should be included. But someone could at least make arrangements with the powers that be to get the sub-forum setup with 3 or 4 sub-groups to post in, to start out...

Guys ~ This is up to Iceman or Marwin the developers for they are the only ones that can change the outlook of the forum ( Add / or remove sections ).

I have no problem with it & think it is a good idea myself But all in all it is up to them whether it is done or not!

I'm not entirely sure that this is what Iceman had in mind when the question was proposed but I made a little (shoddy) mockup of what I would personally like to see. Any comments:

As previously noted if this is done the official discussion threads from the main forums should be put into and stickied into the corresponding countries sections.

Hi Brent! Well, I think that part has been somewhat taken care of already - a few pages back it looks like iceman was the one suggesting this in the first place...

And Madlost, that looks like a good start there with the design layout...

Definitely needs to be done. There's loads of great Anime around and I'm happy to chip in with opinions and pictures.

Default Dedicated Anime subforum?

I have to disagree with the suggestion. Unlike many, I don't view animation (or, by extension, anime) as a 'genre' of film but rather an artistic choice on par with black and white/colour, sound/silent. So, as an admirer, seeing animation (or anime if I have to be specific) effectively ghettoised would disappoint me. Segregation would imply that it is somehow separate to the rest of cinema while we should be celebrating its current equal footing with a whole range of live action works that examples of anime either equal or better in quality. If there are some anti-animation members out there, simply ignore them and keep up the good fight. Just my two cents anyway.

I don't think you totally understand the reason we're asking for a dedicated subforum. It's because discussion of the topic has been getting "bigger" than a single thread can completely handle, not because the medium is considered "different" than the rest of cinema or television. Most of your reasoning is also very hypothetical and speculative, too.

I, too, would like to see a dedicated subforum. The pinned Anime thread has become too unwieldy, and considering the huge slate of classic titles to be released next year it wouldn't be such a bad idea to make a dedicated subforum materialize before 2013 ends.

Yes, anime on Blu-ray seems to be growing by leaps and bounds... I certainly can't keep up with all the new titles, even with just the ones that really interest me...

I wouldn't mind a separate area that allows more than one thread since one thread seems to be pretty cluttered.

Is a single thread necessary? What's wrong with creating threads for different releases? I see the reasons outlined on the previous page with regards to this but I don't see what's so difficult about ignoring said snark or notifying a moderator. Secondly, I'm not saying that the subforum is being created because it's "different than the rest of cinema or television", I'm saying that it's creation will give that impression.

The big issue for me is if someone creates a new thread related to Anime, no one knows it exists unless you happen to catch it in the New Posts list... You can't even easily do a search for anime-related threads, because many times the word anime isn't even used in the title. I've stumbled across anime threads that have been opened for months and missed out on time-sensitive relevent information. It would just be so much more convenient to have them all listed and created in one area of the forum, where a quick glance will find what you need. There would be a lot more new threads created in that kind of environment as well.

And to me, anime is a completely different genre from other animation, with a totally different culture and fan base. But that's just me...

I'll never understand why people are so against change? I mean what is the worst that can happen here, you have to click 1 or 2 more times?? Really?
What's the harm in trying it out for a short period of time, if it works...great! Stay with it.
If it doesn't work you can always resort back.
Also if it does work, this concept could be utilized for other overflowing, wide encompassing threads? If so desired.

IMO, it seems the pro's far outweigh the con's here.

I don't think it's the fact that people are against change. Someone could create a thread saying that Criterion should have its own sub forum and everyone would jump right aboard and say that that's a great idea. The problem lies within those in the community that hold negative views about anime and it's fan base. I'm sure you've seen it in the forums as well as I and many others have. Hell the sites anime reviewer dislikes the fan base as far as I can tell with that little snippet from the Sekirei review where he said that the only ones that could enjoy it are basement dwellers. Sadly I think that a lot of the community's thoughts are the same in regards to this and it turns off some people from posting about something that they like due to the general attitude they will receive. That is the exact reason why this sub forum would be a great idea because the ones that are not interested will stay away and let us do our thing and if someone has an interest they can come into the section and talk about it without fear of being ridiculed.

Hey - I dwell in my basement 90% of the time I'm at home, because all my entertainment, theater room, and computer systems are all there in my Mancave - and, I also own Sekirei on Blu-ray... guess I've just been blatently stereotyped, lol!

I don't know if you seen the review but that wasn't the exact phrasing. It was much more insulting but I decided to omit that part.
