Possible silver lining hope from dark horizons:

"The studio confirmed that next year sees the release of "Terminator: Genesis," "Mission Impossible 5," "Friday the 13th in 3D," "Hot Tub Time Machine 2," "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water," the remake of "The Gambler" with Mark Wahlberg, and the Michael Bay-produced "Project Almanac"."

If the new installment rolls out on bluray in 3d maybe paramount will revisit part 3 to promote it!

What are the chances that a real 3d blu will come for part 3 now that the reboot is going ahead?

Is this a dead issue now.
Will we ever get a REAL 3D release of this title?

Bob Furmanek told me that he contacted Paramount about a possible restoration and they expressed no interest

I would love to have this in 3D has it's my favourite of the series. Just don't think we will get it now sadly along with Jaws 3D.

If Paramount ever does decide to do a Friday part 3 release, I would hope that they would do the necessary corrections that plague the current 35mm release print. Truth is I would take it "as is" but it really needs some work.
If Jaws 3D is released in it's current form I wouldn't buy it for any amount of money. If you were in attendance as I was in Hollywood 2 years ago at the 3D Festival, you know what I'm talking about.

The Mad Monster Screening of JAWS 3D in RealD I moderated that we hosted at the Chinese6 looked amazing. Not sure why the screening done at the 3D Festival at the Egyptian would not have looked good as well.

I don't have any idea why either.
You know you're in trouble when the Universal logo come up on the screen in a double image. The entire presentation had flaws. But that's really no surprise since the camera model was changed several time during the filming. Maybe we have a difference of opinion on what looks amazing!!

I was at both screenings and I can tell you the one at the Egyptian looked the same as the Chinese 6. I'm with you on this one. While somewhat flawed, the dcp was still quite impressive.

The funny part about the Egyptian screening was that for about 20 or so minutes, the 2.0 track was literally only playing out of the front left and right speakers. I couldn't believe it. Eventually the projectionist turned on the matrixing effect, properly distributing the audio to the center and surrounds as well. I never thought the Egyptian could be so amateurish.

I have the Sensio Jaws 3D DVD. Side-by-side 3D so the picture is soft but the 3D is pretty impressive.

Wow, I guess we can agree to disagree. We were having to take the glasses off every 10-15 minutes to relieve the eye strain. I left there with a headache.
I had a conversation the day after the screening with a gentlemen who we all know and respect for his 3D knowledge and he indicated to me that Universal make the DCP without any 3D corrections. I ran the 35mm 3D print as projectionist in theatres when it was released and remember very well all the problems that print had.

I know the stereoscopic supervisor on this film. I emailed him to ask how things are at Paramount and if there is any chance of a proper 3-D blu-ray release. Will let you know what he says.

Really still hoping for a legit 3D version at some point. Anaglyph is OK, but colors diminish. So cool if they would remaster for true 3D for home.
