BTW, I've also heard that Excel was going to release "Aks" and other Rakeysh Omprakash (ROM) movies on Blu and DVD.
Any more thoughts and news on this?

Ek toh waise hi Bollywood movies are rarely receiving steelbook treatment. On top of that, if this is what they will keep on doing, bye bye steelbooks in India.
Already Sony DADC has degraded Steelbook re-packaging for steelbooks released in India. (Example : Thor the dark world Steelbook)

Another good (bad) example is GRAVITY Steelbook, however it is Metalpak but in India it is listed as Steelbook, very disappointed with Indian Metalpak. 3rd class product.

True.
It's futurepak to be exactly. Metalpaks have been upgraded to futurepaks. Futurepaks are more better quality wise than metalpaks, which are paint-chip magnets essentially. Costs quite less in production than steelbook.

But There is one exception. Pacific Rim. That's full glossy. And superb quality Futurepak IMO. Another one is "The great gatsby". Do not own it, so cannot comment.

Generally, if China, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Hong-Kong are getting Steelbook release for a particular movie, India will also get steelbook release. If Those countries are getting futurepak release for a movie, India will also get the same. At-least, that's the trend which I have observed sine last 1 year (Or since when India started getting steelbook/futurepak releases, specially via Sony DADC).

Yep. If Rhythmhouse has put up the listing, it's released. Because they only make the listing live, if and only if item is released, or in case of Pre-orders, if it has fixed release date.

And looks like listing has a pic of original product.

I have seen both editions today however not bought because I have already pre-ordered it. The artwork quality is SUPERBBBB!!!! specially Steelbook (2 Disc edition), another edition is 1 Disc.

Steelbook has a sticker pasted on the back but not sure if it is glued as it was sealed package.

Just got both editions in my hand. The artwork is pretty cool. The regular edition is just a fat case with a slipcover.

However the picture quality is spectacular. One of the cleanest most pure looking indian blurays. I still remember the theatre experience and this is a faithful reproduction of the experience.

The audio again is amazing. DTS-HD and very clean.
The directors commentary and special features will be looked at in the evening.

All in all, worth the wait for fans!!

Ps. For song lovers, you can choose to just play the songs also if needed.
