Actually Neil Patrick Harris could make a very good Desi if that's the role they're eyeing him for. That's honestly one I've had a tough time envisioning any actor in. He's a pivotal character in the third act.

As for Perry, I'm not sure who they have in mind for. I'm guessing either the detective investigating Amy's disappearance or maybe the lawyer Nick eventually hires. Although that character is white in the book and married to a black woman(maybe they'll reverse that in the movie).

Agreed, NPH could be perfect for Desi.

Actually, Perry in drag wouldn't be too far off from the wife of Tanner Bolt(the lawyer). Thankfully Fincher is probably taking this project more seriously than that.

I encourage you to keep it that way. He is truly awful, well he was ok in Star Trek but that role didn't call for much. He was laughable in Alex Cross.

He was actually pretty good in Alex Cross. It was the direction and script that let him down but he was trying his best. Even the critics who hated the film praised him.

They certainly didn't help, that's for sure. I thought otherwise, I actually laughed out loud a few times, and I rarely do that during a performance. By far the worst lead performance I've seen in a major release movie in quite some time. If Idris Alba played the part it would have at least been watchable.

It starts filming in September. I figure it'll be released in the fall or winter of 2014 in time for awards season.

In Fincher we trust. If he can take Rooney Mara from one of the worst performances ever in NOES to one of the best in the best 20 years in GWDT, then he can pull something out of Perry. At least I hope so.

Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens and Patrick Fugit Round Out David Fincher’s ‘Gone Girl’ Cast

Before Ben Affleck plays Batman, he’ll be playing a husband accused of something terrible. He and Rosamund Pike are the stars of David Fincher‘s upcoming thriller, Gone Girl, based on the best-selling book by Gillian Flynn. Pike plays a seemingly perfect American wife who goes missing and her husband is instantly blamed. From there, things get incredibly surprising and frightening.

With filming set to start soon, Fincher has just revealed the actors who’ll be playing the main supporting roles. Tyler Perry is officially Tanner Bolt, a scumbag lawyer who represent’s Affleck’s character, newcomer Carrie Coon will play Affleck’s sister, and Kim Dickens (Treme, Friday Night Lights) and Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) will play the detectives investigating the case.

Deadline broke the news of these additions. Neil Patrick Harris has also been confirmed for the film, likely to play one of Pike’s ex-boyfriends.

Flynn herself adapted the novel, with the help of Fincher, and I’m incredibly curious to see how that works out. Many of the book’s biggest and most juicy surprises are derived from the structure of the book itself. Moving those moments into another medium is surely possibly, but likely difficult.

If you’re a fan of mysteries and David Fincher, I highly recommend giving Gone Girl a read. Or, if you prefer to wait for the film, totally avoid every single write up you can about it. There’s simply too much that can be spoiled too easily with even a simple suggestion.

Hmm, Fincher must've really seen something in an unknown like Coon to give her the role of Margo. As for the other casting choices, Kim Dickens could work as the female detective, although I was envisioning someone older. Patrick Fugit seems 100% wrong for the male detective though. We'll see about Tyler Perry as Tanner Bolt. In Fincher, I trust. Does this mean they'll make his wife white in the movie(in the book, Bolt is white and married to a black woman)?

The 20th Century Fox pic about a woman who disappears on her fifth anniversary will face off against Gary Shore’s vampire movie “Dracula Untold” opening on the same date. It’s the same weekend on which Fincher’s “The Social Network” opened in 2010.
