Scientists could strap a camera to Jason and unleash him on a group of teens for experimental reasons. Maybe they're trying to create the perfect killing machine so they're studying him...or something. I don't know. It wouldn't be any more farfetched than sending him to space I suppose.

The Next 'Friday the 13th' Could Be a Found-Footage Movie

Classic film franchise "Friday the 13th" may be taking a page out of the "Paranormal Activity" playbook.

According to Shock Till You Drop, the producers of the next movie are actively searching for pitches that involve found footage.

The project resides at Paramount, which has achieved great success (and made tons of money) off the low-budgeted "Paranormal Activity" series.

The budget for the 2009 "Friday the 13th" reboot was $19 million, while "Paranormal Activity 4" cost just $5 million. And yet the former generated $91 million at the worldwide box office, while the latter raked in over $140 million.

So, it's little wonder that the studio hopes to apply the "Paranormal Activity" formula to a new "Friday the 13th" movie. Still, a "found footage" take on the venerable series would be a significant departure from the previous 11 films. Of course, the project is still in the earliest stages, and could evolve into something else entirely.

Found footage of Jason Voorhees: What do you think?
I hated the last one, this one doesn't sound any better

Honestly, I'd watch it. I love found footage movies, and to see one of my favorite horror series take a stab at it sounds like fun.

No news of this is found on Fridaythe13thfranchise.com

And that's who leaked out the past sequel news.

Are you sure the found footage idea isn't just a rumor at this stage? Bloody Disgusting posted this, but they also posted a VHS of Halloween that sold for a ton on money months ago -- what they didn't show was that the buyer had no feedback and the seller probably never saw a dime of it.

Oh yes...

Count me as one who voted against the found film idea too.

anything is a rumor at this point.. the article states they are playing around with a few ideas and the Found footage seems like one they are wanting to role with.. I'm sure more news will continue to come out

Why not make a better movie with an actual plot with the old budget instead of lowering the budget?

No complaints from me. It's not like they're defacing the Sistine Chapel or tearing down the Eiffel Tower. The Friday the 13th franchise has had its share of disasters, so I don't blame them for throwing anything and everything against the wall to see what sticks.

In Space sequels always meant the end of a franchise. But this found footage crap is a new low!

is this even "another remake"? I thought it was just a different approach for the next installment after the 2009 film. I have no problem with new approaches. These slasher film sequels are all just carbon copies - why not mix them up and take different approaches?

What's with the "another remake" sigh in the headline? Are you upset that there won't be any epic, creative, integrity-filled Friday the 13th Part XI coming soon to a theater near you?

They tossed around the found footage angle a year or so back, so it will be interesting if anything comes of this updated rumor. Not sure why it is widely being reported as fresh news though.

It could be the found footage fan in me, but if done right, I think it could work pretty well. I think I could actually be scared and creeped out by Jason again in this form, since they'll never go back to the style of those early F13th films. I don't know why it is seen as outlandish or something more foolish than what psychic girl, Manhattan, Worm Body Jumping Jason, and future Jason turned out to be.

The story is simple. People go into the woods surrounding Camp Crystal Lake to look for Jason, who is a local legend at this point, ala Blair Witch.

I understand the fatigue from seeing so much found footage, but it never gets old for me. And it is something different, but not completely absurd for a franchise like F13th.

But yea HOPEFULLY the found footage BS is BS.
