It doesn't even have to be "decent" for me. I'd watch a VHS level quality print of the Rocky V Director's Cut because at least that'd be watchable.

His dvd boxes were regular size, and my dvd covers are slim size.
I watched about the first 35 minutes of the original BD before going to bed last night (plan to finish it today). It's been at least a few years since watching the disc and on my older display (SXRD RTPV) I thought there was red push. However, on my VT60 plasma which has virtually reference color, I have not detected any red push or anything unnatural in terms of color up to this point although not sure about the rest of the film yet.

I do see occasional ringing/edge enhancement particularly in some of the outdoor screens. At least grain is well in-tact (and, yes, rather overly heavy in some shots).

I think, overall, the new 4K scan will be a substantial improvement and look forward to it even though I could live with the current disc. There are a lot of older transfers which will never be re-released which I could only hope looked this good.

I'm hoping I will be able to slap this disc in my digibook, and it will have all the extras that are included on that version. But so far the Sony 4k editions have been very scant on extras, so you have to keep your older editions for those. Maybe Fox will do things differently, but if they do include any new extras for this, they would likely have to be on a second disc, since the movie would likely hog up one disc by itself.

Just looking at what MGM/Fox is doing with Robocop, I don't think we'll have to worry about this being like Sony's line (which is essentially Superbit on Blu-Ray).

Just, once again, for the cheap seats, Sony is the only studio pushing "Mastered in 4K" as a line. Plenty of other studios besides Sony have put out films mastered from 4K, even before that line existed, and nobody worried they would be extra-less. It's like, when Superbit became a thing, did we start worrying about every DVD that was released? No.

This, much like RoboCop -- also a 20th Century Fox / MGM title -- is clearly being done to upgrade an early Blu-Ray release. I have little doubt we'll get the full slate of extras, just like RoboCop.

True dat!

If only I'd thought of it before I created a thread for RoboCop. I'd be tanning my as* on Bahamas right now

So that's pretty much everything that was on the bonus disc of the boxed set, no?

I wish studios would include a feature on how the film materials were restored or cleaned up for the new scans on the Blu-ray...like we saw on Jaws and Godfather, for example.

Great news about all those special features, but that cover is straight up horrible.. as is the steelbook cover. Which is why I'll be keeping the first cover on my shelf when I double dip.
