Watched this last night.

The 3D that I felt was the most impressive was the subtle foreground placement throughout the movie, such as the beginning with the police officer speaking with the main character and how the right side of his body was in the foreground while the other side was inside the screen (background) if that makes sense or how a desk would be in both the foreground and background.

Really nice depth throughout especially the scenes at the amusement park.

The pop outs were hard to focus on for me. When they come right at you with no angle what so ever, I felt like my eyes were crossing as they tried to converge on one spot.

I'd say if you collect 3D movies, then just having this in your collection due to it's limited run as well as the novelty of being the first major studio 3D film as has been mentioned is worthwhile, but if you were buying this strictly in hopes of being blown away with 3D and do not collect/own a ton of 3D blurays, then I'd say you would need to think long and hard about this one. I don't really see much replay value as if I was going to re-watch one of the restored classic 3D movies, this would not be on the top of my list compared to HOW, Dial M and CfthBL.

I agree. This title is for 3D "nuts" like myself, not for the average classic movie watcher. However, IMO the 3D is much better than HOW, Creature or DialM.

+1.... also forgot to mention my active system displayed significantly less "crosstalk" with this movie as compared to the above mentioned three classics.

However, I couldn't stop laughing at how dumb parts of this movie were such as.....

[Show spoiler]when he was having the "nightmare" of being chased at the amusement park, when he got in that "teacup" ride that spins. Then seeing all of the cops chasing him each getting into their own teacups and are shooting at him. When the ride ends, he gets out and runs off as all the other cops were getting out of the teacups they got in. granted, i did finally get the concept that is was a dream, but seriously, none of the cops bothered to wait at the ride exit instead all getting onto the ride.

Does anyone know if this Screen Archives site ever has sales/coupons or free shipping? I'm curious to see this but hard to pull the trigger on a ~$35 blind buy.

Ha Ha sales, coupons, free shipping? lol you obviously never visit the show that never ends The Twilight Time Thread.

seriously though TT never offers anything in the form of discounts, infact when they offered the NOTLD returned copies on their website it was full price.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the 3D.
I think we've all agreed that the plot doesn't win any Oscars but this movie has become my new "standard" for 3D comparison. I've been using "Hugo" but the depth and roundness of Man In The Dark is far better. It was shot with the perfect camera. I hope we see more Columbia golden age 3D titles made available.

I know of one discount, but to get it to work I had to email them after my order since it didn't take it out at checkout. Using AMAZON should get you $10 off orders of $50+. I found out about that code when I ordered some stuff from their Amazon store.

Just finished watching this. I agree 100% what you posted earlier: this is a better 3D presentation than House Of Wax, Dial M For Murder, and Creature From The Black Lagoon.

Depth, detail, foreground placement were excellent!! Pop outs were hit or miss (my favorite was the surgeons poking various medical instruments at you).

Some great pan out shots that stretched into limitless. SO GLAD I PICKED THIS UP!!! Awesome 3D presentation. Movie itself was okay....ending did nothing for me,lol

Great little review.

Best of all, if this title sells well maybe Twilight Time will release some other classic 3-D titles like Inferno.

Would love to see Inferno get a 3D release. Fingers crossed for more of these 3D vintage releases.

One other note: I love the one liner jabs in this flick, lol. The movie starts off with a couple of wise cracking one liners, lol. Love it

Thanks zoodles95

Thanks for the link. Will these be exclusive to screen archives or will these be available from other retailers?

I think Olive Films will be releasing these so doubt they're exclusive to anyone.
