I work in radio, and in the late 80's I had a chance to interview members of Buddy's family and the surviving members of the Crickets, as well as Ritchie Valens' manager and his girlfriend Donna. All of them had a lot to say about the films. Movies are never too accurate, but La Bamba is at least in the neighborhood. TBHS is mostly fiction. However, between Busey's performance and the music being performed live on camera it really captures the era and Buddy's spirit. One of the greatest rock & roll movies ever.
I like them both but I think, and it has nothing to do with historical accuracy, that La Bamba is the better film.

I'd been waiting for/checking up on the status of my copy when I read this a few days ago (on their FB page, and posted in the TT thread) -

" Twilight Time has notified us that owing to circumstances beyond their control at the manufacturers, shipping of the September titles is likely to be delayed until around the 18th. We appreciate your patience as we know how eager you are to have the discs in your hands. Rest assured this is a very unusual situation, and that the pre-order and release dates for the much-anticipated October titles remain unaffected. Thank you for your understanding. "

I assume you're tying to ask how much it is and where to buy it. The answers to those questions are: $35 shipped, and the Screen Archives site.

here's a link: http://www.screenarchives.com/title_...LA-BAMBA-1987/

I was about to ask when Killer Elite and La Bamba were supposed to start shipping and I come across this bit of info here - good news for me, actually. I could use a slight delay as I just spent a boatload of money on mediabooks and now I don't have any money left . Forgot that these TT titles were scheduled to ship about now.

So yeah. It's the 18th and I just got a shipping notification. At least they were accurate about the delay.

i got mine.
im a little sad it has less special features than the dvd.
in addition to the 2 commentaries the dvd had a remembering ritchie featurette and la bamba music video with los lobos.
the twilight time only has a trailer and the commentaries of course.

im about to watch it in a few min.

it has a 5 page booklet that has couple rare pics.

5 page booklet is cool. I'll just throw my DvD in a double disc case to go w/my BD. I do that when special features aren't brought over from a previous version. I'm just so curious to see how it looks on blu

I want this, but cannot justify $35

Hopefully they have a standard release.
