Spike's "The Mist" (Season 1)

Just watched the first episode, and holy crap was that problematic.

Rape is a huge and serious thing to tackle. And to throw that in the first 15-20 minutes of a TV series? Risky. And it wasn't handled well at all either. First of all, that should never be used as a means of character development.

Second, the doctor told the dad there were drugs in her system, and she was passed out. Yet she said there weren't any signs of violence so it's not considered rape?! UMM, HELLO. IF SHE'S PASSED OUT, SHE CANNOT CONSENT. IF SHE CAN'T CONSENT, IT'S RAPE.

This show is already mishandling a very serious subject matter.

so, how has the show been?

dont want to read through and get spoilers but have only watched part of the first episode, was falling asleep, so need to rewatch...

is this show worth it? good mystery? intriguing plot? from the first episode it had a "king-y" feel with the actors...not sure whether thats a good thing or not lol....kind of felt similar to Under the Dome and we all know how that one turned out....

Its kind of OK/eh. I think they did the show a disservice with the actors they chose. Not a one of em outside the crazy God lady is that talented.

The show is just flat out bad. I can't see it getting renewed for another season at this point. I don't even know how they're going to cram so much in a span of only 3 episodes at this point. I just watched episode 7 earlier and they STILL haven't gotten to the mall. The junkie character is absolutely obnoxious and I'm so sick of her taking up the episode. The whole rape issue has gotten old, I was really interested at first but the way they're handling it is really agitating. They have the girl kissing her supposed "rapist" in the preview for the next 3 episodes. Are they going to confirm if he actually assaulted her or not? Will we ever get ANY answers? The cast is truly bad aside from the main mom to the blonde girl and the dad to the blonde girl is alright too I guess. Just a super lackluster show. They really could've done so much more with considering both the source material and how AWESOME the film adaptation of it was. Instead it's dragging on with one of the worst casts I've ever seen and the most ????? plot ever. I'm only watching until the end to see what happens at this point, and because I'm pretty certain they're not going to continue this. Should've been a short series anyway, and on a different channel that could've done more with it as well.

What a lousy show. It's Under The Dome-level bad. At least 11/22/63 was a solid TV adaptation of the book...this is just crappy.

i didnt mind the first season or two of under the dome but man, it fell off so quick and no idea why they didnt just follow the damn book!

so, is the mist bad like season 1-2 of Dome or bad like the end of Dome?

Honestly, I think its worse than Under the Dome Season 3, at least Dome had some likeable actors and hot girls. I've seen the first 4 episodes of The Mist and I'm planning to skip the rest and just watch the last episode (10?), although I'm pretty sure they have a cliffhanger prepared no matter what, it's like they can no longer write season finales without a cliffhanger anymore.

Honestly, it being on Spike didn't give me much hope, but this is worse than I expected. I'm only continuing because it only had 10 episodes and it's nearly done. I'd be hella surprised if it gets a 2nd season, and I most likely won't watch it if it does anyway.

Did you stick around for the reveal of the rapist? If you thought that was handled poorly...

This has just showed up on Netflix in the UK. From what ive read on here im guessing it isnt worth adding to the never ending list i already have?

HORRIBLE show....after this and The Dark Tower, it's been a lousy year for Stephen King fans. Hopefully It can turn it around.

You know how in some shows have the disclaimer that "Any resemblance to real people and places is unintentional", for all these modern King franchises (including Under the Dome, 112263, maybe excluding the now split and linearized IT), they need to have a disclaimer that "Any resemblance to the novel of Stephen King we paid a lot of money for is purely unintentional"...

Eh I started this show and felt obligated to finish out the season. Not sure if it's coming back for a second season but I know I won't be.
I am also one who dropped Under the Dome after an episode or two in the second season, that one turned unwatchable real quick
