Don't let people discourage you. We can't all retreat to sites like this and let the HD DVD fans have total control everywhere else. I don't have the stomach for it but I'm glad there are some that do.

The sole BB to rent BD movies near my Orange County, CA home is in Newport Beach (17th St) and they rent them in store for $4.99. The selection is meek but its a start.

There are 564,456,789,147 threads regarding shelf space at retail stores. It could be posted in one of them.

Shelf space threads need to be treated with the same distain as black bar threads (I am guilty of creating one). But why do we need constant updates about shelf space.

The old/newly rehashed saying still stands, IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, THEN JUST STFU.

Others don't care about your disdain. This is a forum for all of us who care to read others opinions. Everyones opinions. Even your repeated non-sense.

Keep on posting your relevant news people. I for one will be reading it.

Why do we keep getting these threads. I don't care what your Best Buy looks like. I don't need a shelf space update for every retail location in the US and Canada.

Dude, I have to go to my local Best Buy to pick something up for my wife. I'll check the current shelving situation there and post the results when I return.

Default Wal-Mart dissapoints me greatly today..

So I went to wal-mart today to pick up Alexander Revisted: The Final Cut on blu-ray (excellent 19.99 price point there), and while I was there I noticed a very nice blu ray stand 4 sided with blu-ray stock on each side, great selection and 2 Sony Bravia HDTVS on each side of the display playing looped information and demonstrations of blu-ray.

But... upon standing there while browsing the blu-rays they had I took a few moments to watch some of the advertisements shown on the tvs setup on the blu-ray display... and low and behold they are looping HDDVD advertisements on it, not blu-ray!

I figured ok maybe someone messed up, so I find the employee working in the electronics department and ask them if they may have made a mistake. The employee explains to me that it is no mistake and HD-DVD and blu-ray are the same thing. I explained to this person that they very much are not the same thing and I would assume the BDA paid for this display and would be expecting it to be playing information about blu-ray not about its competition. The employee shrugged if off and I went to find a supervisor/manager.

After about 15 minutes of waiting I finally was able to speak to the manager of that department and a few others, and she explained to me the exact same thing the employee said! HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are both high definition and thus the same thing. The loop playing on the blu-ray display is fine and will remain.

Needless to say I am dissapointed in wal-mart.

Walmart = crap
I never shop there for electronics.
They don't care about customers
They have crappy products.

It is the nature of Walmart.

Try reporting it (be specific by location, time, and names) to the HQ online.
They will prolly tell you the same thing tho.

My walmart finally expanded BLU Ray Discs! I was so happy when i noticed that there were more BDs than HD dvd! I will go there and ask employee what blu rays are and have them compare between BLu and HD DVD. Ill correct if they were mistaken

Don't you guys think if the Employee's selling the stuff are confused, how confused are the average consumers? They won't even try to understand it, they'll just say "What is the cheapest HD player?" buy it and leave....LOL

Situations like this are exactly why Wal-Mart isnt ready to start carrying this type of stuff.

For all the Crap you hear about BBY & CC I have rarely heard something this bone-headed. (YMMV)

You can try to report this, but they are so big, who will really care. All they care about is selling merchandise. One store is not going to matter to them and we all know it.

I guess you didn't explain it very well to them. They do have access to the internet. But I think it's more lazyness on their part. Too much work to change it.

Default Wal-Mart Blu Ray Vs HD DVD (post pics)

This is from a store in eastern South Dakota.

For every 1 HD DVD there are 3 Blu Rays.
Post up some pics of your local stores.

PS
On a side note, I did find 1 copy of Transformers, but it was behind another movie....I just left it

Trust me, I explained it to both the employee and the manager like they were 4 year olds. Im sure at first it was a case of ignorance, but afterwards it was clearly a case of carelessness.
