More specifically, I'm wondering if they have the same color timing or if the 88 Films release is closer to the MonstersHD version shown in the images in this review of the Full Moon. http://www.horrordvds.com/viewarticle.php?articleid=923

Anywho, since that page already has images of the Full Moon Blu, all anyone would have to post is matching screens from the 88 Films version.
Thanks but I don't have a computer that has a blu-ray player I do have a ps3 and two blu-ray players when I upgrade my 12 year old computer I'll make sure it has a blu-ray with it.

The Subspecies blu-ray from Full Moon was artificially sharpened and the colors, even though they pop, aren't accurate. The 88 Films version is very grainy and a bit too noisy. The colors are more accurate but the film looks soft. It's the same master, apparently, just without the digital tampering plus a much better encode. The look of the 88 disc is so different than the US that it just goes to show how artificial the US BD looks. Some say they love the look of the US release and to each their own but I prefer the UK release. Not that it's amazing looking but it looks more natural.

That sure doesn't work with any bluray player I've ever used on my computer! If this dude is still planning on buying a drive just to do this, be warned

Seems that Vampire Journals has been announced, and I couldn't be happier. Absolutely love that movie! Fingers crossed for a nice transfer.

Isn't that one of those movies that was shot on video (or am I still thinking about Curse of The Puppet Master)? I mean theoretically, you COULD restore something like that albeit presented at 1080i.

I don't think it was shot on video, though it was straight-to-video...
Curse was 35mm film so I'm not sure which picture you're thinking about, perhaps Subspecies IV?
Either way, really looking forward to this release! It's a surprisingly good film.

One of my favorite Full Moon films! My guess is that they'll get to it relatively soon, considering the amount of blu-rays they're releasing a year...fingers crossed?

Here's the blu-ray cover for Vampire Journals. I wish they would've used the original cover, for nostalgia reasons...

It's part of the old Empire Pictures era, wouldn't surprise me if it was licensed out to Scream Factory, after all they've put out: Dolls, Ghoulies 1 & 2, From Beyond, Terrorvision, Catacombs, Cellar Dweller, Ghost Town, Prison and Robot Jox. Or maybe Kino since they got Zone Troopers...

Well if Scream has it then THEY better get on releasing it, maybe it'll liven the thread up a bit instead of so much bickering lol . If they do have it though they would probably announce it in the summer for a fall release, as is my guess with Bubba Ho-Tep.

I scanned the back of my Vampire Journals Blu-ray that arrived today.

The new special feature is a feature commentary w/ director Ted Nicolaou and Full Moon CEO Charles Band. The Subspecies Trailers and Videozone Featurette are carried over from the DVD.

I think it is still with Full Moon. The DVD can be bought on fullmoondirect.com. Many if not all of the above noted films were licensed to MGM. The DVD I saw of it was pretty poor quality. A remastered Blu-Ray would be much appreciated!

Was it the fake Wizard Videos boxes that ruined Charles Band's reputation, or was it tarnished from previous things. I'm just curious because every time I watch the guy talk I have a hard time believing a word that comes out of his mouth. Unless of course he says "I want more money for me by putting out a mostly 2nd rate product." And it seems he has his hands in more pies that anyone I've heard about before.

MGM outright owns the rights to all of those films. Empire went bankrupt before Full Moon began, and CB didn't hold on to the rights to the majority of those, they were simply sold off (i.e. Orion Pictures as an example).

CB only held on to some of the "Titan Productions" films of that era, like Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama.

It looks pretty good overall, and there's some healthy grain visible. It's definitely much better than the old DVD transfer, which was often quite overly dark. The transfer takes up just shy of 16GB on the Blu-ray.

Of course no lossless audio again, but at least the original Stereo track has a 448kbps upgrade (same kbps as the 5.1) now.

Eh, he may be a huckster but in all the interviews I've seen of him discussing movies he's quite enthusiastic about them and genuinely seems to enjoy what he does.

But with all FM blus, I'll wait until 88 Films puts out a version if they're still doing it (they did recently release Trancers 2 so there's hope, I was worried after the Tourist Trap incident). Lossless audio, better artwork and occasionally better video encode, the only title I didn't want to wait on was Doctor Mordrid (which is a good thing, they still haven't put it out).
