I loved it. I haven't seen an action scene as ballsy as that in quite some time, and Bombur kicking ass was grade A awesomeness.

I enjoyed 'Desolation of Smaug' more than 'An Unexpected Journey'. I loved the sequences with Smaug and the ending left me wanting more!

I did the same, I didn't want to laugh because it was another Jackson Looney Tunes over-indulgence that breaks the tone of the film/books, but g*dd*mn was it funny.

It kind of fit in with the book. Bombur was the joke of the dwarves in the book.

OP updated with database placeholders. All info (not done by me) is unconfirmed but is likely considering the first extended edition.

Mods need to merge the other thread with this one as well.

Going to bump this even though there is no new info on it. Although, Jackson said on his Facebook that a teaser trailer for The Battle of the Five Armies should be coming soon and I believe it was July of last year when the official specs for An Unexpected Journey was released so we should hear info on this soon (Comic Con?).

What extensions would you like to see?

I was hoping for more of a conversation between Bilbo and Smaug. I felt like the one in the theatrical is over too quickly.

It's just spread out over 20 minutes of shenanigans.

not a scam to me, I didn't buy the theatrical cut because all I want is the extended cut.

I went through the double dip game with the lord of the rings, never again.

I hope to learn more about Thranduil's angle: what he knows and when he knew it. Would like to see if Gandalf spoke with Thrain and was it prior to his first meeting with Thorin. I always buy the extended as streaming versions. Having first bought the theatrical blue releases.

Really? It's plenty long for me, I'd even go so far as to say that it slows the movie down too much as it is.

Jackson tends to add stuff which will impact the next film, but seeing as so much of this movie is Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit'™ it's anyone's guess as to what be included, because we certainly can't rely on the book for pointers! A look at the ruined city of Dale is a shoo-in I'd say.

She-Elf and Kili are probably going down, which is why they built up that relationship in film two.

Last year on July 31st the full specs/release date were announced for the first Hobbit extended edition. Let's hope we hear news soon! A trailer or a clip would be nice.

The UK amazon has listed The Hobbit: DOS for November 3rd.
So far, a BluRay and a BluRay Bookends edition are available.

Something more from the long walk in Mirkwood is my guess (and hope).
