I skimmed the Blu-Ray.com review and the paragraph at the very bottom suggests this movie is gimmicky or something or the sort. Chances that I like this film?
I don't care if you don't know Billy Wilder from Van or Gene Wilder, Charles Laughton - and his wife (Elsa Lanchester) - are both simply outstanding (as is just about everybody else in the movie - okay, except maybe for a little bit of overacting by Tyrone Power). This is not some flash-bang or "gimmicky" modern trial movie (whatever the hell that means), it's a classic film for the ages, and as such, transcends its time and technical limitations.

Yes, but the subtitles on the special feature are strictly there for translation purposes only...once Wilder and/or his interviewers speak English, the subs disappear.

Hey,
I've never seen this movie, would I enjoy it if I really liked twisty-turny movies like some Hitchcocks and films with "shock" endings?

Does it help to know the original story was by Agatha Christie?

Trying not to give anything away. (I'm of the mindset that even saying there's a twist in a movie is something of a spoiler, since the whole point of a twist is that it should be a surprise that things aren't what you took them to be, not just that you don't know what the details of the twist actually are.)

Anyway. Simple answer to your question: yes, I would think you would.

It was an Agatha Christie play which Wilder adapted, which I think makes it more "her" than those based on her books. This movie is well-acted, the dialog is snappy, and the twisty story is great. I especially like the comedy between Laughton and Lanchester. The fact that they had been happily married in real life for decades makes the bickering funnier.

There's a few of these Kino/MGM releases I want to get. I own quite a few Kino titles that are region free. Can anyone confirm whether this is Region B compatible?

I think they're out on too many diverse labels for that to be probable.

I watched mine last night and I noticed one possible glitch if someone else can confirm that they have it also.
Its at the very end where Marlene Dietrich says something along the lines of *arrest me for MURDER !* There is a jump cut where she says the word MURDER just before she *takes action* (im saying the words this way so I do not spoil it, because I do not want to ruin anything for first time viewers)
The word murder is omitted due to the jump cut - did anyone else notice this ?

That's why there's "spoiler" tags. See the button with the blindfold?

Excuse me, but (at the risk of a worthless argument) I have not given away a single thing other than Marlene Dietrich's saying word *Murder* at the end was omitted.. I have not said what actions have been taken, or what she has done or not done for that matter not done. I have not said a single peep about the activity at the end. I would never give something away like that to a first time viewer.
I was very careful with my wording about that and because I was concerned that my blu ray was defective at the part where she said Murder and you do not hear it. I wanted to know if that was a defect or if it is done on purpose. Someone did reply but the post was deleted. I know people like to argue over nothing on forums and have said my rebuttal. I cannot say anything else

OK I've just checked this on my version. It IS the AU Umbrella release but curiously at that instant, there is no jump cut only the word Murder is not audible.
