While I didn't purchase the series, I am sure fans would want answers. Why introduce a title to BD for the first season and then do DVD only for following seasons.

Power Season 2 is available in US. Is Starz/Anchor Bay release so is most probably Region A locked.

My advice to fans of Power, buy a Laser Region Free player from Big W OR in Brisbane, DVD King and import from Amazon. May be cheaper than Aussie DVD off the bat or wait a bit... It should get cheaper.
Don't give Aussie distributors the satisfaction of getting the DVD only that they offer.
Always go Blu.
AND once you have a Region Free player, you will be given a lot more choice by choosing to shop from Amazon. It is a great investment.

Yep. Local distributors can bite it. I get that sales of the initial season may not have warranted further seasons on Blu, but people can't buy what isn't released. Most of the shows I blind buy (which is most), I decide to buy because the first season goes on sale as the next season is released - which means it's a year old.

It's not strictly Blu-Ray's though. Digital/iTunes is just as lacking.

Take CSI for example. In it's time, one of the most ridiculously popular series on TV - can only buy CSI: Cyber on iTunes Australia. Can't buy any season of the original, Miami, or NY on HD anywhere in Australia. Only season 8 of the Las Vegas series is available locally on Blu. That's it.

How is that possible? I get Blu-Ray, there's a production cost involved, but no iTunes HD? Who the f*ck makes that decision? And how the hell do they still have a job?

I've resigned to the fact a lot of my favourite movies & TV series will never get a Blu-Ray release, and iTunes HD will have to suffice if I want better than DVD, but the amount of content still lacking is beyond a joke.

I never bought the local release for that anyway. As with Cinemax's other show Banshee, they always seemed to be released 3-4 months after the US release. This specific release was out in the US back in March.

By that time, the US price has dropped so I always threw them into one of my Amazon orders.

I also did the same, purchased this season just after it's release on Amazon. It's the same with Banshee.

I still can't comprehend why these companies are not releasing seasons on Bluray here in Australia (H50 is one of them - Oh wait, they stopped releasing them on blu altogether) when all they do is complain about people not spending money in there stores. People are now smart enough to go - Well, you're not going to stock it, I'll go online and order it and get it cheaper.

A little while back, I was in JB looking for Battle Cry bluray from Judas Priest (this was just after it's release) and not 1 store had it, and a spoke to a friend who works for JB and asked what happened, even he was surprised they weren't stocking it. So I bluntly told him, I'll order it from Amazon. And he couldn't blame me..

These companies are there own worst enemy.

There have been a few BD on TV releases recently, that have not come to Australia, but are available overseas.
Always meant to post when I notice, but I have neglected this thread recently out of sheer frustration.

I know it's not just me that is pissed off and not just because of the remonstrations of others who have posted on this thread.
I heard an individual next to me at JB counter ask for Peaky Blinders S3 on BD and they were told DVD only... What are the odds?

To reiterate, what I find is most painful is we often get a Season 1 release and then no S2 (Veep) OR a most of the series on BD, then no last season even (Eastbound and Down S1-3, then S4 DVD only).

Noticed iZombie had no S1 BD (UK, Germany, US, tick!).
I was annoyed about Aquarius S2 recently (although only the French got BD). But, glad to see The 100 got S2 released on BD (along with S3).
Most recent misstep by distributors, Lucifer S1 was DVD only (might have bought it, if only it was on BD).

Came here once again to vent.
As I was going through the EzyDVD list of releases (looking for Hell on Wheels S5 Part 2 on BD, as I own Aussie releases of S1-5 Pt1 on BD), I noticed something.

It is early days, but according to EzyDVD, Archer S7 is only slated for a DVD release!
Archer S2-6 have been released on BD in Australia. I even imported Region A S1 to complete my collection (double dipping as I owned the Aussie DVD).
The US is getting S7 on BD.
Thus, for a distributor to jump ship now is unconscionable.
Aussie distributor has lost my $.
Will import US set, should there not be an Australian release.

In New Zealand we often miss out on blu-rays of TV shows that Australia gets, because it costs NZ Distributors to submit a blu-ray to get classified even if its DVD is already classified, so we have missed out on The Night Of and Banshee Season 4 and Girls Season 5. Going to have to eventually order them from Aus, but it sure grinds my gears.

I hear your frustration!
Still spewing about the last 2 seasons of weeds not getting BD release here.
I don't have a multi region player so couldn't get US versions as I believe region A locked so had to settle for Aussie DVD versions...
I have been holding off with hell on wheels for the whole series to come out and buy as a set, and now appears we wont get the full set here and as you said no last season maybe on blu?...
So will most likely have to import the boxset from overseas

It is similar with Music Blu Rays, some titles we get and others only overseas, I have started buying them from overseas too as I have been realising there is a blu version just not coming here...

Okay that will tremendously annoy me if we don't get a BD release. That barely makes any sense since it's Fox releasing it worldwide, it isn't like Roadshow releasing WB or HBO discs. But I guess there is a precedent for this - Fox didn't release Bones S8 locally on BD, but it got an overseas release.

I will be super annoyed if Fox completely gives up on Archer BDs, because it benefits from the HD uptick tremendously.

Don't want to be an alarmist, but I found that Fear The Walking Dead S2 might have both DVD/BD on EzyDVD, but only a DVD pre-order on Sanity. NO BD! WTF!

If FTWD S2 doesn't get a BD release, EOne will have a lot to answer for from the physical disc viewing public... If the 3rd most popular show on US cable (after The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones) can't get a BD release, that is seriously f*cked up.

Still no Archer S7 (not looking good). Will definitely import.
Thank the gods for Amazon.

Oh, FYI, for the record, other Aussie S1 BDs recently, with S2 DVD only - Power. Joining From Dusk 'Til Dawn with S1 BD, S2 onwards DVD only.
Zoo S1 was DVD only here (US BD). Empire S1 (though mentioned before).

And thanks for the reminder Blueherring about Weeds... and then there was Californication (both 2 seasons short of complete BD for the series). Fracking ridiculous!

In fact, I imported Ash vs. Evil Dead, as I assumed we might not get an Aussie BD release. I was wrong. But with the shite that is happening with consistent DVD only releases, it appears to be a real crap shoot nowadays.

Good news for Hell on Wheels S5 Part 2: 22nd Feb 2017, finally.

And Fear the Walking Dead S2 BD (8th Feb '17) is also now up on Sanity.
FTWD S2 is much better season than S1, getting more TWDish, without being an out and out clone.
Unfortunately, looks Aussies will get a bare bones release across 4 discs with almost no extras (if UK 4 disc is anything to go by).
I reccomend the 5 disc US FTWD S2 release (imported and came yesterday), if you can play Region A.

Still no Archer S7 BD news for Australia. Way to honour loyal fans of Archer and BD 20th Century Pox... Fools.
Looks like I will be heading to Amazon for yet another import.

Picked up January Stack today (at JB) and was shocked to see yet another TV on BD casualty - Ray Donovan S4.
And this one isn't just Australia, same for US and others.

While I am not buying or watching the show. It must really piss fans off when you have bought S1-3 on BD, and they only do a DVD release.

Insult to injury in Australia: now you got to watch the show with PAL speed-up... The theme will be sped up and Liev Schriebers voice will be at a higher pitch (especially Liev's voice as the deeper the note of the voice, the more one may notice it).

Sad state of affairs.

Yup.

Stuff it, I say.

I'll just get it from Amazon.co.uk if they wanna stuff around and have higher than usual prices.

It's like The 100, it never had a Season 2 Blu-Ray release (it does now) but I picked it up for $21 off Amazon about 2 mths earlier.

It's like Season 1 of Colony starring Josh Holloway- nothing in AU, but, yup, there it is... in the US of A. (DVD only as well) ; same as Quantico... could go on & on.

Another one bites the dust, DVD only release for Vice Principals in Australia.

US Release pictured

Now I feel justified in buying it from the US...

Just like another recent HBO title, Show Me A Hero, that was DVD only here (both Region Free).

Another BD title, not here in Australia.

US BD Release pictured (Region A locked most likely).

Aussie DVD release only. I bring it up, because with the US release I am reminded that Aussie distributor EOne dropped to DVD from Season 2 (after, at least, giving us a taste of BD with S1).

Very frustrating...

Vice Principles is also DVD only in UK despite retailers originally listing a BD. It seems Warner decided not to release it here either.

Yet another title (HBO no less), that IMHO should have got a BD release in Australia (UK and US are).

It really is unbelievable that this award winning comedy can't get a BD release here... And completely ironic (considering how the title is synonymous with high-tech).

I am sick of having to import. Very frustrating considering they release S1 & S2 on BD here and then they do S3 DVD only.

I've been holding back lately, but in this case I think it's appropriate to say:
F**k the distributor of HBO in Australia... You really suck at what you do. It's Silicon Valley for fracks sake! Don't you know your target audience!

Check the UK forum here.

Warner (HBO) have pulled Silicon Valley S3 in the UK as well.

Although originally listed on Amazon and other sites Warner have changed their mind ands it's now DVD only. If you check the database entry for S3 in UK the Amazon link is now dead.

Of the 4 planned HBO titles scheduled around now in UK only Ballers is still get a BD the others have all been changed by Warner to DVD only.
