You might as well as Scarface to your overrated list while you're at it, Seymour.

Well, if people could remember more than two lines from the entire movie, that might actually be joking...
(Nowadays, it's pretty much "Stoner Dorm-Poster: the Movie")

Blue is the warmest color is so damn good, but agreed on drive. The intro is probably the best thing in a film from its release year but the movie is all downhill from there.

Pfft. That's silly. There's so many quotable lines from that movie.

Avatar was a tremendous technical achievement when it was first released. We all marveled at the great special effects and the amazing 3D. But on repeat viewing, I don't think the story holds up that well. The seams really start to show and you realize that it's a Dances With Wolves rehash. I'd like to talk more about the film but I've commented on the politics of Avatar on another thread only to have it taken down, so I'll leave that out of it.

The money Avatar made never fed my overrated reasoning, but the Oscar nomination certainly did.

The Usual Suspects never clicked with me.
[Show spoiler]I feel like the twist ending is meaningless if it invalidates the rest of the story

As a huge Fincher fan I actually find myself agreeing with Fight Club to an extent. I still love the movie but I don't put it on a pedestal like I did during the high school - college chapters of my life. I've noticed it's almost like a coming of age movie for that exact age group.

1.
[Show spoiler]The ending to the Usual Suspects doesn't invalidate the rest of the film. It makes sense out of it.

2. People don't remember -- I don't think -- what it was like BEFORE "The Matrix." That was a freakin' amazing movie.

Most of these movies I love. Drive, Blue Is The Warmest Color, Blue Valentine, The Hurt Locker, even The Descendents. And while I am not totally against saying Gravity is overrated I did find it very good because of the stunning technical achievement. The script itself is weak, but that's not really why the film is loved. The Matrix was good but I didn't love it. The one on this list I really didn't care for is Avatar. Guess it's just not my cup of tea.

I'm partial to The Matrix but Fight Club is also great and 1999 was a very strong year for film.

Overrated and films are the first two words in the thread title.

Why did you even click it?

yup.
where have you been? it's not uncommon. how many upcoming movie threads are full of posts like "this movie is gonna suck!"? yeah, most of them. I dont see you complaining that those people entered a thread just to ***** about it.

The fact is, this has been covered again and again, and there was no reason for yet ANOTHER duplicate thread on the subject.
