Grabbed a copy myself - a blind buy. Maybe the $14.99 was a typo lol. It went back up to normal price too quickly.

I blind-bought it the other day when the price dropped.

I'm picky about Shakespeare on film, but this one did it for me. Most important, I felt the language was clear and the actors communicated it well. Also loved the production--there were several nuances I particularly enjoyed, especially the medieval set dressing and background activity. Watched the documentary afterward and Polanski pointed out all those things as choices he'd made so I felt even better about the way he directed it.

It's a shame that the film's association with Playboy cast such a stigma on it when it was released. I thought it was very solid.

It was so good that I really wish Polanski had made a Hamlet shortly afterwards!

Of the film Hamlets I've seen, I most enjoyed David Tennant's. Big fan of that one. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Hamle...y/9947/#Review

Ok... I'm going to admit this in an open forum...

Believe it or not, my favourite is still
[Show spoiler]Mel Gibson's
version. However, I do give Tenant's a very well deserved 2nd place finish.

Bumped by a Macbeth spree inspired by Denzel and Frances.

Did the Welles recently (interesting to hear Roman lightly criticize that picture) and will do the Kurzel next (ironically/serendipitously, I just watched his The True History Of Ned Kelly . . . I noted throughout the remarkable cinematog only to get to the end and learn it was shot by . . . Ari Wegner; even more impressive than Power IMO).

Really enjoyed this. I sometimes have issues with Shakespearean language and found it helped me to have subs going.

Speaking of Mel, not surprised to Google around and find that he watched/was inspired by this in prep for Braveheart.

Wonderful combination of period and then-new supplements.

Anyone watch the Spain Sony Blu-Ray from 2019? Curious how it compares to the Criterion.
