I'd already decided I needed to re-read Leviathan Wakes while the series is airing, and started it today. It occurred to me that if I re-read them one a month (so I can get in other books along the way), I'll have all five re-read when Babylon's Ashes (Book 6) comes out.

I finally watched this last night. Yeah, they're definitely not getting to the end of the book.

I thought the Montana trip was a nice addition, and the backstory of why Holden left is a really interesting note about his character and a good bit of storytelling. Miller's Ceres exit was well done, too. The run-in with the Martian skiff was a good concept, but the way it happened didn't feel particularly believable. The spy dude was a good idea, as he was interesting in his own right, served to show that the UN already had some pieces in play, and highlighted some differences between the main cast members.

They might, but it'll be compressed. Episode 10, the finale, is titled "Leviathan Wakes", which sounds like it'll end where the book ends.

By the by, people should be warned that the last two episodes (9 & 10) will air back-to-back next week, from 10pm to midnight on Feb 2 (tonight's is ep 8).

I can see how they'd do it, but it would be a pretty radical departure from the current pacing. Just to avoid being too spoilerish, you have the Julie hunt (which could easily be a single episode), Eros, assault and, uh, peril. "Leviathan Wakes" ain't a bad title for what's happening pretty soon.

I guess if they stopped short of the very end of the book, that would be quite a cliffhanger, too. I could see them doing that.

speaking of cliffhangers, if they stick with 1 book per season the cliffhanger at the end of season 2
[Show spoiler]Thomas Jane popping up with glowing blue eyes and little blue fireflies around him
is gonna make me lose my mind

Love this show, almost done with book 4.

Well, OK. By the end of this episode
[Show spoiler]they're on Eros, and have found Julie Mao
. Seems not unlikely that they'll finish the book.

Spotted an amusing cameo. When the transport ship arrives at Eros, and Miller is seen in the terminal (when the PA is talking about the security in a foreign language) the two people who walk past the camera to screen right just before we see Miller are Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, who together are James S.A. Correy, creators of the Expanse series. Incidentally, they had also scripted last week's episode.

I'm hooked on this show and just ordered the first book to fill in all the details they surely had to leave out of the show. This has been a lot of fun. Best new scifi series I've seen in a long time.

great episode! I think
[Show spoiler]they could have "monstered up" Julie a bit more
, but it was still good.

my prediction for the final 2 episodes

[Show spoiler]they skip a small chunk of the book between them escaping Eros and coming back to destroy it. By the end of episode 9 the protomolecule will have taken over the station completely, then in episode 10 is starts heading toward Earth.

As I've mentioned before, I'm re-reading Book 1, and I was a bit surprised to note that the show swapped the order of a couple of scenes. In the Book, Fred doesn't send the Roci crew to find the asteroid, after which they go to Eros. Miller and Holden &co. meet up on Eros, find Julie, and then find out about the stealth ship hanging by the asteroid.

Just started the second episode. Still have to read the books, but the first episode was good. Hard part was watching it because I kept getting bothered IRL.

Agree. Wonder if
[Show spoiler]they will find Julie's hand terminal or if the Anubis core will tell the tale of the Protomolecule and if the corporate Perp will be ID'd. We know from the preview we'll get a flashback to the Scopuli.

Can't wait for the finale. I do hope the people behind the conspiracy are revealed though! I would hate if they saved that for S2…

I don't think there's much danger of that.

Yeah, they seem to be moving at a good clip in relation to the book. They'd have to include pretty much everything from the rest of book 2 to stretch beyond 2 more episodes, and the book itself already HAS a very good cliffhanger built in, so I don't think they'd need to manufacture one mid-book.

I saw an article on the bing bar that read "Flight Over Ceres", I misread as "Fight Over Ceres". I clicked thinking I was going to see an Expanse article.
