I never said that, but Hollywood has a bad habit of taking powerful female characters like Sue Storm, and casting women more known for raunchy fare to attract a 13-year-old male audience. Sue is a scientist, warrior, and eventual mother; as such, she should be written very dramatically, and played by an actress with plenty of matching experience.

But beauty, acting skill, and intelligence have absolutely nothing to do with each other. (Actually, there have been psychological studies that have at least indicated that the more beautiful someone is, the more likely he/she is to be more intelligent. But that's beyond the scope of this discussion, really).

I think Natalie Portman, for instance, is an excellent actress. She's also very smart. And she's gorgeous.

And she's been published in scientific journals, and she's a mother.

So, not sure what her beauty, for instance, would have to do with anything.

Alba's just not a very good actress usually. Though she's certainly been ok in a couple of things.

Keanu Reeves as Don John in Much Ado About Nothing. Perfect casting in that film with the exception of him. Still one of my favourite Brannah films, but I just have to overlook his sour flat performance.

Nicole Kidman- The Peacemaker...she is too prissy to be a "U.S. Nuclear Specialist". Some of the action scenes where she was chompin' gum and acting tough made me giggle.

She just doesn't look like the outdoors type to me. Too glamorous, not hardy enough looking.

Ive said this before but heres an obvious pair from a pair of Ridley Scott films..

Orlando Bloom should have been in Robin Hood as the lead.

Russell Crowe should have been the lead in Kingdom of Heaven DC.

Both films would make much more sense that way round. I still love Kingdom of Heaven DC and Robin Hood is a minor guilty pleasure though.

They knowingly hired Lazenby who didn't have any real acting experience and it shows. And I think his untrained acting, for me, undercuts the entire film. He was good for action, but not for acting. Based on acting alone I would have preferred Connery or Moore.

+1. But have you seen all the Lazenby revisionism in the Bond thread lately?! Ill tell you this - ask any of your older family about OHMSS and they will all say the same thing - Lazenby was awful.

It makes more sense when you see a deleted scene from the film which is set way before the film...

I still dont know why that scene was cut out - makes much more sense with it right at the start.
