Interesting.

I wonder if its the original Karate Kid or the new one. Interested in seeing what the artwork will be for The Fifth Element.

And here I almost bought the UK Fifth Element steel the other day for $40. I'm glad I didn't, depending on what this art will be I guess.

Same here...glad I can hold off now. Even if the artwork is different, paying half the price or less will make that easy to look past.

Just bought the Taxi Driver digibook at BB though last week when it was on sale for $9.99.

I have that UK Fifth Element steel. While it has very nice art I think the frame and matte finish sort of ruins it. Would've been fantastic as a glossy.

BTW, I'm loving all of the Sony catalog steels, especially Das Boot. Will probably grab them all.

This is a decent lineup the more I look at it. I think, depending on art of course, that I would seriously consider getting all of these:

Fifth Element
Snatch
Superbad
Desperado
District 9 (Just ordered the German one though )
Dr Strangelove
Karate Kid (only if this is the original )
Leon the Professional (have the Kimchi, but if these are cheap and I like the art, I may double dip since it's one of my favorite films)
Taxi Driver

Don't count your chickens yet. These may be tough to get stateside as Future Shop doesn't ship outside Canada, and these are limited to 800 per title.

Why rebuy a blu ray just for a new cover? I would prefer a brand new transfer on a brand new disc instead of old transfer in new packaging (I don't care if its steelbook. Its NOT gold!). Don't fall for these studio gimmicks! I have purchased several box sets of the Die Hard films hoping for the newer 4K scans, but instead get the same ugly transfers from 2007 (or earlier!).

From a movies collector's point of view, what you said makes perfect sense. From a steelbooks collector's, you're crazy.

We have many people who collect steelbooks (among a bunch of other kinds of special packagings) that won't even open their steels. People who buy empty steelbooks and just don't care at all about what the movie was. People who will buy every single edition of the same movie being released at the same time, even if all share the same disc.

The thing is: to each their own. Collecting is not an exact science, therefore we may see some habits that look unusual or weird to us, but which will fulfill another person's needs and whishes.

should be all english. steelbooks tend to be are for futureshop. 95% of the time.

Fifth Element
Snatch
Superbad
District 9
Leon the Professional

only will purchase those since i dont own it, and i never got around ordering it from the states because i picked other titles instead. i dont buy bilingual titles if they have it on the spine (and absolute minimum lettering by the front, back doesnt matter)

snatch is my fav movie out of them.

I will probably go for Snatch since it somewhat in a way goes with the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels steelbook. Others would be Fifth Element since I missed the UK one, Easy Rider, Das Boot and Leon.
