Yes, no, maybe, not yet.
There's been some debate about that among the producers. Basically, it stands on its own for now, but as it develops it may eventually show the greater world, which does include mutants, but may or may not make direct references the X-Men. |

When i saw that Noah Hawley was doing this, that was all i needed to know. And then seeing Rachel Keller and Aubrey Plaza in the cast was just glorious icing on the delicious cake. The first episode didn't disapoint. It also made me even more psyched for the third season of Fargo. Noah Hawley needs to clone himself so that he can be in charge of all television shows.

Fantastic. It was exceptionally tight, never once does it lose in it's genre mash-up, time hopping, body swapping, reality bending narrative, visual arresting but constantntly with purpose, playful yet investful. It's almost too good that I don't honestly know where's next. I think people will have a problem with it not feeling like X-Men, but as far as I'm concerned, this feels the closest something has come to not only feeling like a comic book, but subversing it and contrasting it with television or film for that matter.

Yeah, it was good and I liked it... despite my only knowledge of it is that David Haller is Charles Xavier's son.
The one thing I didn't like was how it was so ambiguous about the time period. I figured it was something along the lines of his [Show spoiler] but it seemed like they would atl east nail down one specific decade [Show spoiler]

Absolutely terrific. Noah Hawley does it again.
It was more fun watching my wife watch it. All I really told her was that it was based in the X-Men universe. A little ways in, she asked, "Would this make more sense if I've seen the last few movies?" (she's seen only the first two X-Men films) "No." Later: "Waitaminute...is that Matthew Crawley?!" "Yes." Still later: "I'm completely confused, but intrigued" and "That Bollywood dance dream must've been a blast for them to shoot." Between this and Taboo -- and the forthcoming new seasons of The Americans and Fargo -- it looks like FX is going to have a winning 2017. |

Watched it last night too, and it was definitely out there. Not sure I liked it, but didn't hate it. There were parts I really liked, like the escape and the relationship aspect was nice. Keep in mind I know nothing on the characters other then the premise that he's Charles' son. I'll probably watch ep 2 to see if it grows on me, but so far I'm sorta meh on it.
