Thanks, 13th Man for the reply regarding 1920: Battle of Warsaw. I guess I was just unlucky. First time anything like this has happened to me.

I only listed one autoconversion (Alien Predator) before I said

It sounds like an odd kind of error to have, have you tried the disc on other players/TVs?

Default My few imports.

I have INFERNO 1953 and BEOWULF. Love them both. The restoration by 3D Film Archive on INFERNO alone is terrific. I hope Twilight Time's May domestic release looks as good.

Nova Zembla is in the least number of collections of my movies though I wouldn't call it a gem. It is re-watchable, however. What really surprises me is how few collections Beowulf made it into, which is a must-have in my book. What is more shocking still is that twice as many people have Dredd than have Titanic or Winter Soldier. Of course, those numbers could be skewed due to different editions.

I love 3D and collectibles so when I see the two together I am always thrilled. I think the following from my collection are relativeley rare.

Chinese Metal Packs: Battle for Terra, Monkey King and Sector 7
French Steelbook: Transcendence

The Monkey King: Uproar In Heaven is in 22 collections, it's a very respectable 3D conversion of an old animated movie and is region free and English subtitled so everyone can enjoy it. I watched it back to back with the Donnie Yen live action remake, I've seen so many Monkey King movies now that I feel like I know all the characters...

Inferno 3D restoration was done by Grover Crisp at Sony not 3D Film Archive.

I like my German Blu Ray of Francis Coppola's Twixt, the only one in the world with the 3D scenes

It's my understanding the original restoration and 3d master was done by the late Dan Symmes. Done from elements rescued and preserved by the 3D film archive. Read the materials provided with Panamint's 3D release.

From Home Theater Forum:

It was restored six years ago by the late Daniel L. Symmes. In speaking with 3DFilmArchive's historian, Bob Furmanek, I was informed that there was some confusion at Fox over which version to supply and they almost delivered a poor-quality anaglyphic master. Fortunately,Bob and his fellow 3-D historians, Greg Kintz and Jack Theakston, stepped in and were able to insure the correct HD restoration master was used for the Blu-ray.

There are even more complete details about the restoration and 3D master of "Inferno"(1953) in the literature accompanying the Panamint release of 2014.

I would quote them here, but I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do. (copyrights, etc.)

there's one title I have in my 3d collection that is out of print and very hard to find, the best buy exclusive blu ray 3d release of dead before dawn, good 3d in my opinion, found it used in a pawn shop for 5 or 6 dollars, originally there was one copy going for 50 dollars on eBay at one time, a very lucky find for me.

I guess anyone owning a 3d copy of the Morgan Freeman Ben Hur could certainty call that rare.

I would say the rarest 3D Blu-ray I own is Peter Jackson's king kong!

I haven't heard of that one. I would truly love to see Peter Jackson's King Kong in 3D. Where did you get it?

Hi 13,

Actually, Batty successfully pulled one off on all of us, though he stretched the truth. There is a 3D version of Peter Jackson's King Kong. Its an attraction at universal studios in Hollywood.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...JSY-B_ZHov35Zw

So if he took home a souvenir of the attraction, and if it happened to be in the form of a Blu ray (irrelevant of the actual content), then it is a rare gem in his collection - literally!

There is a King Kong 3d Blu release it is a russian bootleg of the film. It floats around on Ebay from time to ime you can see an image of it here http://ay.by/gds/king-kong-3d-blu-ray-10282040.html

The rarest release that I have is the 3d blu ray release of Postman Pat a native 3D film from 2014 but becuase its from Russia I'm uncertain on its authenticity but its in a proper package and loks pretty allright in 3D.
