English audio options are either:

7.1 DTS-HD High Resolution or 6.1 DTS-ES Discrete

Picture looks crisp and good to me although this is the only Saw blu-ray I have seen to date.

Hope that helps other people too.
Thank you for posting this. As I stated earlier in the thread, I had my suspicions that this would be the case, where it is simply a repackage of the old disc. The persons review on Amazon wasn't the greatest source IMO, as what they wrote didn't exactly display someone who is overly knowledgeable.

I stand corrected. Yes, the German Amazon reviewers don't come across as overly knowledgeable so I'm no longer optimistic it has lossless audio. Well, I've already ordered it and should get it any day now. Don't know if I'll send it back or test it to find out for myself. It's a shame they couldn't upgrade the sound if it doesn't end up having it.

Yeah, he stated DTS-HD High Resolution, which is lossy and different/inferior from lossless DTS-HD MA or even TrueHD. I'm still not sure we know the whole story until we get more confirmation from another member or if the previous member can recheck to see all the available soundtrack options on the disc. I'm hoping he accidentally skipped over the DTS-HD MA option.

Hi

I can only find HR on the disc. I would love it to be MA though . . .

I received my copy today. I can confirm that it is simply a repackage of the old disc, with the VC-1 encode and DTS-HD HR 7.1 track.

Is this a bad thing? I don't have any edition of SAW on Blu-ray so I suppose this will be good enough for me. The film is only 10 years old so if this looks like crap then there's something very wrong with Lionsgate's quality control. Still waiting for my copy to arrive, which shipped more than 2 weeks ago. Grrr.

Not as such, just putting an end to the speculation of it possibly being from a new master, and whether there is a lossless track on the disc. Now that it's been confirmed not to, if lossless audio is something that is important to you, then the French or Japanese discs are what to go for:

If you desire an AVC encode with a higher bitrate, the Japanese disc offers this also.

Got mine sent... dented.... had a good old argument with Amazon.de. I've had to pay EUR10.00 to return to Germany from UK and I may not get a refund if they think it's not damaged "enough" to warrant a replacement. I argued my case, and my new one arrived yesterday.... and........ big dent and scratch down the front, worse than the last one! Not a happy bunny!!!!!!

True. Though, from what I gathered, Amazon reviewers and specs aren't that much of a reliable source, anyways. I stood corrected myself, trusting some amazon.uk comment on the UK Martyrs disc being cut. I don't bother anymore checking there for specs, myself.

Not sure what google translate makes out of this , but that Ger site might be of some help at times concerning extras etc:

just got mine today in mint condition... they put the steel in one of their steel boxes and then put it in a pretty big box full of packing paper, very odd but hey if it arrives mint I have no problem with that... the steel is really nice, better than I expected... the red is nice and bold, not as dull as most other matte finishes... and as stated the audio is hd high res which really isn't bad at all since most of the movie is dialogue driven... back art would have made it sweeter but overall it's a nice package for the price and the disc works unlike my original lionsgate disc lol

Mine arrived today packed the exact same way. I was pleasantly surprised. My copy is also perfect. Not the slightest hint of a scratch/dent anywhere. DTS-HD MA would have been tits, but getting HD Hi Res is better than the audio track the U.S. release got, which I think is only standard Dolby? I'm happy with it, overall.

Mine has a very small dent on the back hinge but after reading about how difficult Amazon Germany can be with returns, I won't return it for that. Maybe I can focus on returning it for false advertising on the back cover but that may have to involve taking that up to Studio Canal Germany.
