I like that poster, hope they use it for the cover, but i feel that quote is a bit too bombastic.

I really hope this release gets a bunch of different covers and exclusives to be honest and I usually don't say that. I think the gorgeous cinematography and science that went into this movie deserves it.

Hell yes! Packaging helps drive the market, and helps the format.

Well, you see how your eyes glaze over when folks starting talking box office figures? I get that same feeling when the threads are packed with nothing but discourse about what goddamned slip cover(s) they're gonna buy. In another thread we're discussing why studios don't do proper special features any more; perhaps it's because all they need to do these days is put out a bunch of different covers and case variants and certain people will go bananas for them more than the actual film and/or disc content!

I'm not adverse to a nice bit of packaging (singular ), but if there's EVER been a film which is about the experience of it first and foremost - i.e. the packaging is mere ephemera compared to the majesty of the movie - it's Interstellar. Hence my reply above.

And my eyes glaze over when the pixel analysts rant on about 29.2 bit rate being light years better than 29.1 bit rate.
So I guess we all have our thing, and have to be tolerant of others likes.
As I said, as long as everyone is supporting the format, it doesn't matter.

Yep, we all have different things that are important to us. But I honestly couldn't tell whether matey was being serious or not because IMO Interstellar is the last film that needs 5 exclusive slipcovers or whatever.

"I'm getting the Tars one!"

I understand your point. But this is the Interstellar Blu-ray thread, not the general Interstellar thread, and since we're talking about the cover art I just thought I'd throw in my $0.02. I love the idea of a release of a cool slipcover or steelbook, but I could have just as easily said I'd like a poster depicting the cinematography or something similar.

And hey, the Tars slipcover was your idea, not mine .

. I thought Tars was pretty rubbish when I first saw it in the film. Later on I changed my opinion double quick! My brother said exactly the same too.

I havent got a problem with a Tars cover

The robots are great. For me they took a little getting used to because they look so clunky - I expecting them to be fancy CG creations, not some big boxy thing manipulated by someone who's been painted out - but their actual characters are brilliant. Without their dry humour the movie could've been in danger of "disappearing up its own wormhole", as one review put it.

That's true but I'm willing to bet they'll use the generic Mcconaughey on the ice planet poster for the cover

[Show spoiler]
Have a framed double-sided poster of that in my room (with slightly different release date text at the bottom), so I'm kinda hoping they go a different route with the Blu-ray art just so I don't have the same thing twice haha
