Yup, wait for possible bug fixes and for the inevitable £25 price tag

I like AC4 but the graphics didn't appear all that next gen, Unity I played first few weeks in, buggy as hell & was not impressed with the graphics when the game was running smoothly.

Fingers crossed they don't mess this one up & or actually improve character models more.

I'd like it if they ditched 75% of all collectables too.

Never finished an AC game & would like to.

AC4 wasn't strictly next gen was it??

Out of all of them, you really should play #2 through to the end.

And the Canadian price gouging continues... $79.99 for the "limited" (not so limited) edition, $114.99 for the Gold edition including season pass. Ugh.

Hopefully our CND dollar recoups some on the US Greenback or I'm going to have to wait 6 months after a games release to be able to afford them again it seems.

Yeah, I am still playing Black Flag and will probably just be starting Unity when Syndicate releases. Being a year behind has its advantages (like price and bugs worked out). And guess what? It's the exact same game a year later as it was a month or two after release.

I am done paying $60 for a game. Too many games coming out. I won't even pay $60 for Uncharted 4.

I am starting to think about being a gamer the same way these development companies think: It's a business. And because of that, Ubisoft would be stupid to release another buggy game. These games are so long though, it takes me forever to finish them. I have a huge back catalog that I need to visit before buying more games and that allows me to pay a lot less for games. It is really amazing to me how much money one can save just by being a little patient and less impulsive.

AC4 was every console including Wii U I think.

Thanks for the recommendation, I just might do that & hold off on this latest instalment.

I love the era but dear god that gameplay was horrendous.

Also, people, don't buy into the "pre-alpha" crap. It's not pre-alpha. The game is running full missions with completed and fully voiced cutscenes, and AI patterns. That it not Pre-alpha material. Not only that, it's five months from launch. There's no way a game this big is pre-alpha five months from launch. That gives them five months to complete Alpha, Beta, and QA testing.

That's... That's frankly impossible for an AC game. That's no where near enough time to make it run mildly decent, let alone run good. It's a marketing tage to excuse the NUMEROUS glitches that plagued the video.

The new "vision" of enemies looks a lot like the one Batman has in the Arkham games.

I'm not doubting as i didn't really pay too much attention to the vid, but can you give me a highlights list of the issues?

In fact I just traded in Unity I got bored with the game so i'll wait until AC Syndicate is in the bargain bin before I consider buying it lol.

Waiting a while is absolutely a safe bet. I didn't buy Unity until it had been out 4 or 5 months and by that time it ran beautifully... so I got a price drop as well as not experiencing the glitchy mess that apparently plagued the game initially.

I guess there's a small chance this will release with a lot less bugs, we'll see.

If it's one thing you can count on it's an AC game being $20 very soon after launch.

That's cool I'd rather pay less for an AC game I regret paying full price for Unity.

The combat just looks really clunky. Lot of bad animations. It's hard to describe without seeing it, but they revised the way combat works again, and it looks worse than usual.

There was plenty of severe pop in and other technical glitches, but those can be fixed.

The AI is pretty terrible, and that WONT be fixed. In an area with several guards, your dude is notice by all the citizens, and they react going "what the hell is this guy doing" but the guards don't notice at all. They just stand there.

I found that part funny. Everyone seemed to notice this guy but the guards. Didn't even have to sneak by.

Ubisoft would've won so many people over, if they released a Prince of Persia game this fall instead of an Assassin's Creed, but I guess they're saving it for when shit go real, I guess Unity wasn't bad enough for them

gamers love their nostalgia, that's one of the biggest reasons why Nintendo is still going

Info

Quote:
London, 1868
-As the above and much better codename for the game, Victory states, the game startsand ends in 1868(unlike other AC games which have stories that progress through years at a time) and takes place in London.
-Part of the idea of using London as a setting is that it's an era of peace. Syndicate, similar to AC2, is set during a renaissance. Ubi wants to show off the feeling of progress with the setting.
-The map has been stated to be about 30% larger than last year's entry.
-Each district will feel very unique and will have different behaviors for npcs.

Changes to the formula/Enhancements
>Syndicate features a host of more modern gameplay changes to better accomodate the Victorian London era

-Part of the new stealth system is the ability to use the environment to your advantage: This includes throwing knives into walls to distract enemies or hiding inside carriages. Or shooting a hallucinogenic dart into a fire to make enemies turn on each other.

-There's no longer a hard cover system: there's now a more modern soft cover system that results in more fluid stealth compared to Unity.

-The rope launcher:To compensate for the the much taller building and wider streets players now have the ability to use a rope launcher which acts at a grappling hook or zipline. Using it does not hinder momentum and it can be used for aerial assassinations. Other uses will be revealed over time.

-Vehicles:Unlike previous AC games players now have the ability to control, hide in, or ride on top of horse carriages. These can be used for parkour as well as the player can hop between vehicles. These carriages have "realistic physics" and can be tipped over and crashed. Like in Watch DogsGTA :P you can hijack these from npcs. On top of having a new traffic system, the game features a police system as well. If the police see the player committing a crime they will intervene. They will also notice commotion if they hear it. However, this depends on where you are on the map, expanding the concept from Unity, the police have different AI depending on the district. Police will be more lenient in the white chapel district for instance. Carriages can also be used to your advantage, they can be tipped over, if you cause a crash and tip it over, police will focus on that while you rope launch your way for a fluid escape. The player will also be able to ride trains and boats but other uses haven't been revealed yet.

-Twins:Unlike previous entries there are two playable protagonists this time around. Our main protagonists are Jacob and Evie Frye. The player will choose between Evie and Jacob and the narrative will switch between the two depending on the missions and depending on the storyline during main missions and they can also be switched at any time during general play. They're both customizable as well and feature their own unique skill trees and play styles. They both run the gang known as The Rooks.

Combat
ACS features a new combat system.
-The team at Ubisoft Quebec has created a combat system that is much more focused on hand to hand combat this time around, they also made sure to cut the latency down by half so that the player can more easily move between enemies during combat. However, like Unity it is still quite easy to die, so combat is more about crowd control than just wailing until everyone is dead.

Open World/Side Missions

>There are many new side activities in the world
-This time they're given more context and make more sense thematically. Examples include racing with vehicles, gambling and fist fighting. Meeting historical figures opens up missions for those characters as well. Side missions are interwoven with the narrative as well.
-Recruiting gang members is a big part as well. They adventure out in the world with you and have their own independent AI. Say you have five rooks with you but get inside a vehicle that only has four seats including you, the remaining Rook will seek another vehicle, or hijack one to catch up with you. After you clear a district you can assign a Rook to lead that district.

Returning features
>Taking the feedback from Unity, Ubi Quebec has brought back some classic features for this entry
-Whistling is back
-Human shields also return
-The ability to pick and hide bodies also make a welcome return.
-Windows have been made easier to enter
-Throwing knives make a return
-the day and night cycle has returned, same lighting system as Unity
-Crowd system has been more refined

I love Unity. Story might not be the greatest but I thought the gameplay, graphics, made it worth it.

Game also has a lot to do.
