Ugh, I can't stand Logan Lerman but I will give Feige the benefit of the doubt. Marvel has only screwed up once (Iron Man 3).

Though its a shame with Andrew Garfield. He was a good Peter Parker.

This is great news! I actually don't hate the Amazing Spider-Man films, but the first one was a bit of an awkward reboot origin retread and the second one just didn't live up to what it needed to be to get people really excited about Spider-Man again.

I was interested in seeing what Drew Goddard was going to do with Sinister Six and see if Webb could do the opposite of Raimi and really knock the third film out of the park, since I did like Garfield and I thought the series still had potential.

But honestly? I'm more excited about Spider-Man now than I would have been with Sony's projects. It'll be great to see Spidey in the MCU and I think the story-telling quality will get a much-needed boost.

I really liked Andrew in the role -- shame this couldn't have happened before The Amazing Spider-Man movies. I like those movies, but it's too bad that Andrew couldn't have starred in Spider-Man movies made by Marvel.

I think Logan Lerman would be a great Peter. He's the best choice, short of them grabbing an unknown we've never heard of.

I feel obligated to purchase The Interview on Blu-ray, and then go see every single Rogen and Franco movie in theaters for the rest of my life.

Does this mean that DC is finally going to announce tomorrow (or Wednesday) that Batman v Superman is indeed going to be two parts with the first coming out this year, to try to one up Marvel? Or at least release their teaser trailer.

I cant believe they're dumping the Amazing Spiderman franchise to shoehorn Spiderman into the MCU. Happened about 5 years too late.

They're just going to cancel every DC movie.

Sinister Six Still in Development? Spider-Man Expected to Appear in Civil War

Quote:
The Wall Street Journal has some very interesting details about the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures Spider-Man deal, and they reveal that it was still dead as of December. Obviously that rumoured "Spidey Summit" in January changed things, and Marvel will now have to scramble to make some changes to Captain America: Civil War as the site has heard from their studio insiders that it is indeed the movie which Spider-Man will first appear in (which was obvious, but not guaranteed at such a late stage). As for Sinister Six, they add that while it will no longer be released next November, "The studio will rethink its approach to the film, which remains in development, in light of the new agreement with Marvel."

It was clear in those leaked emails that Amy Pascal was keen on making that one happen, and you have to wonder now if it will somehow be reworked into being that 2017 Spider-Man movie. Spider-Man: Sinister Six anyone? Marvel do have a relationship with Drew Goddard after Daredevil.

Marvel doesn't have to scramble...A script with Spidey is still at the studio for Civil War. They had one that was written if the deal was made.

Not gonna lie, losing Garfield is a major bummer. The ASM series wasn't perfect, but Garfield played Spider-Man perfectly. He was the Peter from the comics. I'm not looking forward to another attempt at the same thing.

I've been waiting for this day for years. I got home from work, got out of the shower, and saw the news.

I'm hoping I didn't slip in the shower, hit my head, and that this is all a fantasy.

Bringing Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he can actually join in on the Avengers films and have a rebooted film arc (given how badly they botched the end of the last Spider-Man) is the best thing that could have possibly happened to this franchise.

It's a mutually beneficial agreement for Sony and Marvel. And, ultimately, fans. Sony will still earn a load of profit and have a lot of creative control intact while Marvel will also get to collaborate and help weave the Spider-Man character into other Marvel films.

The only thing that would make me happier is if they actually got Sam Raimi back... and unlike some of you, I wouldn't say no to Tobey Maguire returning or the rest of the cast. However, I understand it's unlikely to happen. Regardless, I think this is the right move for Sony/Marvel to reboot it in this direction and without a new origin story.

I'd be a lot more excited about this if they weren't doing it as a reboot. Normally I don't mind reboots, but I finally liked Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in TASM2 and wanted to see him in the role at least one more time. I really hope I love whoever they choose, if I don't I won't be watching one of my all time favorite superheroes on the big screen again until the next reboot.
