Considering what Disney puts on these Marvel movie Blu releases, wouldn't hold my breathe on substantial supplements. Commentary, short making-of, deleted scenes, gag, maybe a One-Shot, and a look at the next Marvel film. That's pretty much been the MO since AVENGERS Blu release in 2012.

I also wonder if we could possibly see a 4K UHD release for AOU later this year??

From the Blu-ray Disc Association Completes Ultra HD Blu-ray Specification and Releases New Logo article:

I asked: "Does the UHD "specification" mandate include playing back current Blu-ray 3D discs?"

Paul.R.S answered about 1 hour ago:

Currently we don't know 100%. Knowledgeable parties in some of the longer-running 4k BD threads have asserted that current 3D will/should play on 4k UHD players no problem. The bigger question is when/if 4k UHD 3D gets added to the UHD spec.

The One-Shots have pretty much spun off into Agents of SHIELD (though fans have proposed they could film little "day in the life of our heroes" segments to bring it back, which would be a fun idea).

Pretty much the only confirmed word we have on an "extended cut" is Joss Whedon suggesting we may see some of the deleted storylines on home video (every news site says DVD, but we know they only put that on Blu-Ray these days), and the "extended cut" rumor seems to have spun off from there.

I'm sure fans wouldn't mind an extended cut of a Marvel film, and video collectors wouldn't mind as long as they were informed about it early on so they could make a decision about which version(s) they want to buy.

I read through all these mixed reviews so i went back......

I was in Las Vegas for the next week so i looked for the best IMAX theater I could find. I ended up at the IMAX Brenden theater in the Palms Casino.
The whole experience was way better.... The Picture was nice & bright , colors were better , and the frame rate was much faster , the cgi scenes were nice and smooth this time, very easy to follow.
This of coarse made the 3D better also.

So.... two trips to the theater, two different results.

If you think a movie is too dark or the 3D is off , look for a better theater.

IMAX lists ,

Try to find a real 70mm IMAX,

I saw it Regal Aliante 16 and IMAX. The IMAX presentation, although being digital, looked great. Not to mention, I got a free poster from the box office cashier and I had a free ticket. ( only had to pay 2.50 for the IMAX upgrade)

I loved the movie so I went ahead and preordered the 3D at Amazon. Amazon gave me a delivery date of July 29 but I know that this will probably come out in September or October in order to maximize on holiday sales.

I don't think we will, not unless Marvel/Disney spend the time and resources to create a new digital intermediate, which was finished in 2K for the theatrical release.

Still crossing my fingers for an Atmos track on this one. It's time Disney!

UHD Director-intended 3D or just 2D? UHD 4K 3D discs will have to resolve close to 8K for displaying two full-frame images and will need '8K displays' for 4K passive 3D.

Agents of SHIELD Season 2 and Agent Carter Season 1 both got release dates for September 18 (which is peculiar, as it's a Friday). Wouldn't be surprised if Age of Ultron also comes out that day.

We won't be seeing 8K for at least another 5 years. (One reason I'm not jumping into 4K). So there will not be any 4K 3D discs coming our way.

Imagine Ultron will be on blu ray 3D by September 2015.

I'm really hoping Cap 3: Civil War doesn't become like Avengers 2 where everybody teams up again. Hopefully the Captain is still the main hero and it's his movie to shine in. Winter Soldier was an awesome action movie IMO.

Same here about holding off on 4K.
From about 2 feet away from the HD screen, the tiny pixels are barely noticeable with 1080p resolution, so 4K and 8K, I have to wonder what the real advantage will be when most people watch movies about 2 meters/6 feet or more away from the TV and can't see the pixels anyway?
Seems like a matter of new technology showing up too early before most consumers are ready for it.

That's going to be different. It'll likely be released in 2016, a week or two ahead of the second season.

Last year, Agents of SHIELD S1 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier came out the same day, people noting the plot connections.

This year, a similar thing happened with Agents of SHIELD S2 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, and in addition, Agent Carter appeared in Agents of SHIELD briefly.

Thus, it's not a huge stretch that all three of those will come out the same day. (Note that I could be wrong and they could hold off on Age of Ultron.)

However, Marvel/ABC/Disney isn't wholly in charge of Daredevil, and Netflix probably has a deal that they'll have exclusive distribution for a time. (Take into consideration other Netflix originals like Orange Is The New Black, House of Cards and Hemlock Grove eventually being released to physical home video formats.) In addition, while Daredevil is in the same universe, there's no immediate plot tie-ins.

I have no doubt Daredevil will be released on Blu-Ray, but it won't be at the same time as these. (But I will preorder as soon as it's available!)

Whedon confirms that a director's cut/extended cut of Age of Ultron is (as expected) not happening:

Now all that remains to be seen is if Marvel/Disney release a censored version of the film in Europe, as they did with the first Avengers... hopefully they'll have learned their lesson this time...

Are there any bluray discs overseas that are encoded with Atmos or DTS X though??? I would honestly expect Disney to release Age of Ultron on bluray as their first Dolby Atmos disc. I bet it would be reference quality too!

Is it me? Or is it odd we haven't heard anything official about the home video release yet?
Usually by mid-July we have a tentative release date for most May releases.

I was thinking the same thing. Should know in the next few weeks what the retailer exclusives will be & stuff like that. At least that's what I'm hoping lol

Wonder if Wal Mart will do an exclusive similar to GotG & CA:TWS with character slips. Would love to have a Vision slip!

Definitely. I just want to know how to budget, and yeah, I'd love exclusive slips! I'd be thrilled with almost any character. I've been lucky for the last three releases (counting the Loki Target exclusive).
My guess would be that it comes out the same day as AoS Season 2, September 18.
