I was one of those that was skeptical of even seeing past S3, let alone to S6. Once we got to 6 though, I was pretty well convinced they were going to go all the way, so this news surprised me. I think people should let Lionsgate know how we feel about them not continuing the blu's - and yes, social media is a key way to go. I concede that they aren't likely to have as strong of sales on S7-9 on blu, but it ought to still be profitable for them - especially if they only produce a certain amount to match demand. Even if they wanted to release S7-9 as an M.O.D. title because they don't think they will be ultra-profitable, they should be able to get them out there one way or the other where they will still be able to make a profit from them. At the absolute very least, they should release the complete set on blu as they are doing on DVD. Leaving a series halfway done is just really uncool. And the part that's the most frustrating is they've ALREADY got the remastering done - all they've got to do is slap it on some discs for goodness sakes. Heck, at this juncture, I'd put up with them just literally putting out the discs in cardboard sleeves in a black box - just so I have the discs and own the content (unlike VUDU where a person doesn't actually own it)! |

I'm not aware of any studio using BD-Rs (MOD) for their releases. Even Warner's Archive collection uses low-run replicated discs given they had issues with reliability of BD-Rs during their testing.
I'd be curious to find out how many units Lionsgate has been moving for each season. |

I was waiting for all the seasons to be released before I bought any.
I've been burned too many times by studios over the years both with DVD and BD. Now, I may get flamed for this, but I, for one, am glad I didn't buy them. I'd have an incomplete series...again... |

well I'm sick at the news that no season 7 is now confirmed.
![]() ![]() I just knew Lionsgate would never go all the way to the end. Even with lots of good releases still trickling out bd just feels pretty dead at this point. I never hear a single person outside of this forum talking about it. It's just so sad that the studios just had to keep pumping out dvds when they could have ensured that bd became more mainstream by just finally dropping them. But, of course, they just couldn't let go of their precious cash cow, no matter how irrelevant it had become. the majority of people are just too set in their ways to try and understand why bd is so much better than dvd, and the studios really haven't done anything in the last several years to change that. They clearly don't really care anymore and will be perfectly content to keep pumping out dvds while they wait for an all streaming nation. I swear I'm now convinced new dvds will still be coming out after the last bd has been pressed. amazingly pathetic. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Ι was just wondering:
Would they lose so much money if they released the last 3 seasons on Bluray? I'm not good at economics but it doesn't make sense to me. Can someone explain? Because I think the main reason is money, right? @Arkadin I'm sure DVDs will continue to be released even if 4K Blurays are at a peak. It's so frustrating. We will be seeing 4K Bluray+ DVD combos, instead of 4K + regular Bluray combos! ![]() Last edited by filmmusic; 08-03-2015 at 12:28 PM. |

I wonder if another distributor like TT or Kino Lorber could release the last 3 seasons in limited copies perhaps. you know, get the rights from Lionsgate and at least give the true fans that have supported these bds the opportunity to buy the remaining seasons. I'm sure TT could sell at least 3000 copies even at $30 a season. Maybe someone can suggest the possibility to these companies on their Fakebook or Twitter pages.
just a thought. ![]() |

Since no Season 7 looks like I will only have seasons 1-6 only. I won't be paying for DVDs for the series. Sales couldn't have been that bad for the BLUs. Really sad they were almost done with the series!
I guess if sales for this series were really bad on BLU, I can't imagine that gives CBS much hope for I Love Lucy at their prices! I'd imagine The Andy Griffith Show was DOA |

This really is spitting in the face of customers who have faithfully supported the blu-ray release of this series only to have the carpet pulled out from under them at the finish line. At the very least, Lionsgate should have some semblance of respect for its customers by putting out a limited number of blu-rays for those wishing to complete the series. They sold season 1-6 at a bargain rate; for their trouble why not place a premium rate on the remaining three series, say $35 a season, and at least then they would keep their customers happy. This is just bad business all the way around, and it makes absolutely no sense after going through all the trouble of remastering the series as beautifully as they did.
