In a way I'm glad this movie didn't outrank the first one because that one will always be and has to be the best. Still it felt like a rehash of the first movie. There are INSANE amount of nods and references to the first movie it's in sane, even from the way they'd film certain scenes, quickly reminding you of the scene where Tim expressed his pain with his feet stuck on the upside down jeep for example. So much my friends and I would keep talking about /listing them down on our ride back home.

And I thought it was cool to see film grain remain intact despite it being 3D. I forget who said it here but I know it's possible. Wasn't the case with Jurassic Park 3D other wise.

How does the CGI compare with the original? Do the creatures look more realistic and have a sense of weight?

There are a couple shots they don't but for the most part yes the Raptors and Indominus especially.

There are few shots that take you out of the experience, but overall it's pretty solid CGI. Better than Age of Ultron anyway.

This might be the rare instance where I buy multiple copies of the same movie on the same day. I want the lunchbox (pending the artwork), the possible bookends gift set, and the copy that I already have preordered from the Fandango/JP digital copy promo.

That doesn't mean it makes any less sense. We see where the pre-order game has brought the gaming industry. You want to see some really terrible practices leak into other forms of home media, then so be it. It's a free country, but as a forum of people who obviously prefer physical media over digital, and prefer quality over 'artificial enhancement', maybe we should stop just telling the studios 'take my money' regardless of what they provide.

Because we have better things to do than chase around after things.

I saw the movie this weekend, I know I'm going to want the 3D Blu-ray, it popped for pre-order at the top as I loaded this site today, I've done my one click...and whenever it comes out, it will be on my doorstep day-of.

I know Amazon will have either the best price, or within a couple of bucks and I'm not going to run around spending time trying to save $2 on something like this. I don't have to pay attention to when it actually gets a date. I don't have to think about it again until I get an email saying "Hey, we've sent JW out to you, expect it tomorrow!"

Plus, it's Amazon - so if something crazy happens and I need some special edition or something (doubtful, as I generally don't care, I just want the discs) - it can be canceled at any time until it ships, and returned to sender if somehow I didn't want it and forgot to, for a full refund.

It's just...easier, LOL.

The game thing is out of hand, but this isn't anything like that. At least those of us ordering from Amazon - I don't generally order from BB so I don't know how their preorders are to manage. But as I outlined above, it's not about benefiting them, it's about benefiting me - with a title like this I already know I want to own the day it comes out, it makes my life so much easier to make that click now and not have to think a whip about it until it arrives.

They did a very good job. In fact, the one actual animatronic actually stands out rather prominently as not-so-convincing.

I had more of a problem with the directing than the CGI - and the overall lack of 3D pop effects (if any movie can justify them...) - I actually hope the 3D is more amped up on the Blu release.

I thought it was a great movie - short of amazing, but the issues are pretty minor compared to the good stuff that is there.

Because there's always the chance that the price will drop really low between now and then. Like, I've had Kingdom Hearts III on pre-order at Amazon for a while and I'm glad I did because they lowered the price at one point so now when the game does come out, I'll be charged a little over $40 for it.

Some of the best CGI I've seen. There were a few parts that took me out of it (the baby dinos look pretty silly for instance) and it was only those moments that I remembered I'd been watching GGI.

As the film rolls along, the effects appear to get better (which also happen to take place at night). The raptors are all amazing. The Indominus looks fantastic (too bad the trailers gave much of it away).
[Show spoiler]The T-Rex
is perfect but I wish was in it just a slight bit longer. Here's hoping she makes a bigger appearance in the follow up film!

Which dino was animatronic?

I heard that when the raptors were in their cages, they were animatronic. However, I'm wondering if they got replaced with CGI or at least had CG enhancements.

There's no way the raptors were ever anything other than CGI at any point during the movie. Even in the muzzles.

I don't know if they changed their mind with the final film, but animatronic raptors were made.

You'd be surprised how far animatronics have come over the past 20 years.

Interesting. The critics ave score is 59, while the people's average score rating is 72.

Bigger difference than I expected
