Did you bring your box of Russell Stover chocolates? If so, I hope you plan on sharing! You never know what you're gonna get.

If HBO is gonna start going backwards and releasing older stuff on Blu, I Hope, Oz, Larry Sanders Show And Six Feet Under make an appearance!

By my calculations, he should respond in a few years.

This (along with the original V TV movies from the 80's) has been on my number one wish list ever since blu-ray came out. I own both DVD versions which both have their positives and negatives (mainly aspect ratio and interlacing/combing issues).

Regarding the aspect ratio, I wish they would scan the entire 35mm frame and give us the whole thing (don't chop off the top and bottom, and don't chop off the sides). So what if it is not 4x3 or 16x9. It would be wider than 4x3 and fill much of the 16x9 frame. 4x3 is 1.33:1; 16x9 is 1.78:1; 35 mm is 1.5:1 so it is a nice happy medium.

I agree with Thorr. If they release thus at 16:9 then I'm.not purchasing and this is one of my favourite films/TV.
The 16:9 master wasn't just unoriginal, it actively ruined the composition to the point of important details not appearing such as Armstrong's auto-firing Gemini thrusters.
Do it right HBO or don't bother. There are lots of other very successful 4:3 (or as Thorr suggests) blu-ray releases and a LOT of people complained about the 16:9 DVD release so don't make that error again.

Do it right, HBO? They didn't do Sopranos or The Wire right, 2 shows with a much higher pedigree than this mini-series, and they still got altered to 16x9. Don't hold your breath.

Put in a pre-order. I remember watching parts of this in school (wow so long ago) so it would be awesome to have it. OAR would be appreciated but I guess we'll see what we get.

To each his own. I think it looks nice. Plus, the artwork being revealed makes this release more real to me now for some reason. :-P

Default That's one small step for DVD, one giant leap for Blu-ray!

I decided to catalog as much as I can of this release in DVD Profiler this evening in anticipation of the Blu-ray release. For the front cover I wanted a flat image without the shadow down the left side. This was quick and dirty, but it gets the job done nicely for now.

Don't know about anyone else, but it's been some time since I was this giddy about a Blu-ray release. Really looking forward to this and irrespective of whether the OAR is maintained. I'm also not going to freak out if every shot doesn't look perfect like it was produced yesterday. It is what it is at this point and I plan to enjoy every minute of it on Blu-ray.

To each his own. If content is available that I'd like to own and watch on Blu-ray I'll purchase it whether I like the artwork or not. Doesn't move my meter. That being said, I do like the DVD artwork. I own both the 4:3 and 16:9 releases of this on DVD. I can look at the DVD packaging any time I want. Have no problem with the Blu-ray artwork I stumbled on to today at Amazon. In fact, they could ship just the discs to me. Ship them in paper sleeves in a bubble mailer. I'd still be thrilled to own this on Blu-ray. Can't wait!
