The remastered version of "The Fugitive" looks and sounds wonderful.

Agreed.
And generic e-mail addresses are always THE BEST way to get your point across.

I don't think anyone knows just yet. I hope it's a remaster, but WB did have a knack for re-releasing old masters just with a new lossless track. I'd use Interview With The Vampire and A Christmas Story as examples. The Anniversary Edition of Goodfellas released a few years ago was just the old disc in new packaging, lossy audio audio and all. The 2013 re-release of The Wizard of Oz even uses the same 2009 VC1 encode, but the audio was changed from TrueHD to DTS Master. They added a new documentary though. Their Gone With the Wind 75th Anniversary Edition is a complete carbon copy of the 2009 release, but in different packaging and new disc art.

The Ocean's Eleven set that WB put together a few years are just the old discs in a box. No remasters or lossless audio. Warner is the leader of repackaging and double dipping.

It may be naive of me, but I would hope that putting their Diamond Luxe stamp on this means it will be better picture and lossless sound. Otherwise their Diamond Luxe label is meaningless.

I'm good. I just bought this last year and it was my first time seeing it. I highly enjoyed it, but I don't really see the need to have it in a 4K remaster. Or rather, I just don't see how they can improve upon it much as it isn't supposed to look highly detailed. The same goes for A Christmas Story. There isn't really much more they can do from the BD that came out several years ago to improve upon it unless they want to remove the grain.

I know what you're saying, but I kindly disagree. It was shot on 35mm and was released in 1990. A Christmas Story was shot on 35mm in 1983. Both have great potential if given a great remaster. Look at The Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind. They were given 8K scans and look like they could've been shot just a few years ago! They look fantastic for being 76 years old. Even Texas Chainsaw Massacre's 40th Anniversary 4K scan looks great and it was shot on a shoestring budget and on cheap 16mm film.

Warner has the tools, but it really comes down to making back the costs from restoration. As for grain removal, that's one of the worst things that can happen to a film to BD transfer. Grain makes up the image. It's inherit from the chemicals that make up film. Scrubbing away grain makes the image look like complete crap. It takes away detail, sharpness, and makes everything look like wax. The Ultimate Hunter Edition of Predator is what you get when you take an older master and scrub the grain away.

This is one of my top 5 movies. A family tradition as long as I can remember.

I really hope this is a remaster. The steelbook alone WOULD be enough to get me to buy, but that artwork on the Amazon preorder is terrible. Remaster = buy. Better steelbook = buy. If we get neither, I will likely pass.

The only other way to get me on board would be some nice extras like outtakes, deleted scenes, commentaries, etc. Something this Christmas classic would greatly benefit from. Per the WB website regarding Diamond Luxe, all of which will boast new or out-standing vintage bonus features. If this is true, the extra content will be more appealing than anything else for me.

Batman...Gremlins...the road to Diamond Luxe is paved with recycled masters.

I really hope Warner get off their arses and remaster this. I used to own the old DVD and then my brother got me the UK Vacation BD set for Christmas. I didn't have the heart to tell him that they all look ropey but if this is a remastered print then I'll upgrade and give the old BD away. Packaging I can live without so if it is a remaster then I'll gladly trade with someone here for the Steelbook case.

My go-to Christmas movie every year. Such a classic. Really makes it feel like Christmas time. I love it but no double-dipping for this gentleman

Haven't seen these movies, but I never realized some of them were recorded in mono sound. I really assumed all of them were in stereo.

Right up there with Scrooged and A Christmas Story for me, both of which got the steelbook treatment in 2013.

A fresh, 4K scan would greatly improve detail in both A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation. Both films need it, both films are worthy of it!!! These are Christmas Classics.

I am almost positive this movie was released in 1990. I am sure it was made in 89 but it was released in 90. I went to see it with my parents and I swear it was 1990.
