It would have been cool if they included the short-lived "That 80's Show" spin-off on a bonus disc. I guess they are hoping people forget that show ever existed...

I'm skeptical that this set is indeed complete. I'm sure a lot of music in the original broadcasts and on the original DVDs circa early to mid 2000s have been removed and replaced with cheesy soundalikes.

Just because you buy audio/video on a physical or digital format, doesn't mean that it belongs to you to do whatever you wish, technically. Your purchase only means that you own a legal copy of what is their copyright-protected property. Paying $ for something does not = owning. Technically speaking.

That said, I do agree with your statement on going back to VHS before you ever start streaming.

The important distinction is that the studios have absolutely no control over the content I already have on disc. While technically I don't own the content on the disc it's just semantics: the studios can never stop me from playing that content nor from selling it or giving it away to someone else (as long as it isn't separated from the disc). Whoever possesses the physical disc will always have access to the content on it.

With downloads or streaming I can only play the content as long as the studios continue giving me permission to do so; and I can never sell or give away the content. Studios have full control over all distribution.

I was watching the episode when Hyde's dad comes back on TV yesterday and was wondering the same thing. There's a scene when Hyde is imagining what life would be like with his father and it plays Queen's "You're My Best Friend" and it's made even funnier because of the song. If the Blu has the music removed and/or changed, it definitely will make me re-consider picking this up, especially when I'm not interested in the last two or three seasons to begin with.

I'm not a huge fan but that Best Buy price is too good to pass up. I would like to know about music clearances before pulling the plug though.

I asked TVShowsonDVD on Facebook if there was any word about the music and this is the response I received.

Mill Creek told us these exact words, in case someone asked that question: "we do have the original broadcast episodes and, from what we have been told, the majority of the music is the original. There may have been a few instances where Carsey-Werner could not get clearance."

I would expect that they would be similar to the previous DVD version released by Mill Creek which had the broadcast versions and most but not all of the songs. I'm not sure which songs were missing from those versions.

Seems like that's Best Buy regular price on the site, maybe it'll be cheaper when its on sale, it could end up being a way better deal that it is now

The thing is, the recent Mill Creek DVDs claimed that most of the music was unaltered when in reality, there was almost no trace of copyrighted music at all.

Watching through this show on Netflix now. Up to season six. It's hilarious, but holy $&"+ does it have some ridiculously bad writing. The actors really make this show worth watching, because sometimes, the plots for the episode are HORRIBLE, lol.

Usually they do but in this case I hope they don't.
