Perfect rental IMO. Perhaps I had higher hopes for this one going in, but ultimately for me, it was underwhelming. That being said, Depp did a fantastic job.

This is definitely a rental vs a buy...it was a disappointment for me.

I thought the movie was good, but not great. I expected more but overall it's worth a watch. Depp however was excellent.

Loved this movie one of the best mob movies in a long time I will be buying day one. Depp was amazing his performance as Whitey was spot on.

Watched my copy yesterday. I had low expectations since it seemed to get 50/50 reviews, but I liked it a lot. Very intense. Depp came strong.

1.5? Give me a break. I can understand not being a big fan, but a 1.5? That implies rampant incompetence. It implies that the film is all but worthless. Which is ludicrous. Stick to rating AV specs, guys.

Haven't disagreed this much with a review score in a while. Movie wasn't a masterpiece but it certainly wasn't a 1.5, either.

Yeah 1.5 is criminally low for this one. It's at least a 3 for Depp's performance alone. I get it that it's a bit meandering with the storylines & doesn't give a whole lot about Bulger before 1975. Probably didn't meet alot of people's expectations who expected something similar to Goodfellas. But it's a solid movie if nothing else.

Surprised by the 1.5 star review also.

Just watched it last night. I thought it was really good. I thought the film did a good job of showing what a dirt bad this guy was.

I did not know anything of the true story about this guy or his dealing with the FBI. Found the film told the story in an easy to understand way.

I am not a Depp fan but thought his channeling of Ray Liotta was great

... Seriously thought even though I thought he looked and sounded like Ray, I thought the performance was good.

I see this seems to be a love or hate kind of film... While I did not love it I really liked it. Rent it first to find out where you fall.

I didn't really like this movie. I'd probably give it 2 stars but yeah...opinions are like b-holes....and i, along with the reviewer, seem to be in the minority on this one.
