Especially if you can get it shipped by a friend or service in the US to you. Free shipping on orders over US25.

You'll have to order Seasons 1-7 in one order, then 8 and 9 in another (with another title(s) to breach the threshold).

For you Aussies, it would make the whole series only AU119!
Ugh. That makes it hard. I'd really rather a box set, but that price... I hate mucking about with freight forwarding though, especially if you need to use order combining.

After looking at the forwarding costs, I'll pass. Thanks for the tip though.

Yeah, it's a good deal initially but with the freight forwarding cost it won't work out much better for me unless someone knows of a freight forwarder that's not charging heaps for the privilege.

Since the cheapest option is only about $30AUS more, I think most will go with the complete set than want to go to the bother with shipping forwarders etc.

I'll let you guys know how much I save compared to the Zavi Ł99.9 sale when it's all done. I estimate over $NZ60, which to me financially, is a big saving and worth missing out on the box for.

The best I could get between 4 different forwarding services and guesstimating the package sizes was a saving of AU$25. Not worth the risk considering my estimates were based on them combining packages and assuming my weight and dimension estimates were accurate. If not it would have worked out to save me maybe $8.

I'll just keep my Zavvi order and see if our prices drop further in the next month or so.

Especially since the Aussie box set looks like a cheap dodgy cardboard box set, with 10-11 BD cases (9 seasons + 1 or 2 cases for the films).

I hope I am wrong and we get what the ROTW is getting. Just don't get how we get 57 discs over everyone else's 55 disc set, and we still use the same packaging.

Alas, if anyone in Australia is looking to save $60, wait until Boxing Day… JB HiFi always has 20% off BD/DVD (AUD $299 currently).

For me, I want to start watching the entire series on BD ASAP.

The movies could be inside the Season 5 and Season 9 case.

I doubt it would be a 'flimsy' case because of exactly what you said.. 9 or 10 Amarays. It would have to be like the UK Heroes/Battlestar Galactica/Supernatural boxes.

Now look at reviews of Fox's Lost In Space recent Bluray release to see about flimsy packaging. Rarely have any complete boxsets had decent packaging.

I have my preorder from Zavvi for a really good price, but what are the chances of the set actually getting here before Christmas? They're notoriously slow with shipping.
If I can get it 20% off at JB I might still go for that one. Unless Amazon UK reduce their prices too.

It's advertised in Sanity's current catalogue, with different art and as a 55 disc set, released on Dec 2:

That Sanity one doesn't say Collector's Edition. Hmm...
Wonder if it'll be cheaper. :P(Not bloody likely).

Anyway Amazon UK has reduced their price to 129.99 which after removal of VAT(goes to 108.33) makes the price about the equivalent of JB's during a 20% off sale.
I have a cheaper order at Zavvi but I highly doubt they'll get the set to me before Christmas as the shipping method they use takes ages.
So basically if there's a 20% off sale on release day or a 'buy a gift card for a 20% promotion' like last year then I'll buy from JB. Otherwise I'll probably cancel my Zavvi order and keep my Amazon UK one. I already have the two movies on Blu-Ray so that's not a concern.

I'm so glad I have a 200 dollars in unused jb hi fi gift cards, so glad I saved it for the perfect item. Still I got to fork out another 100 dollars, but at least its better than paying the full 299.

I thought about buying it overseas, but with the exchange rate being so bad and shipping. I dont really save anything.

I was in JB Hifi today and I found that boxset. It's the DVD collection, and the DVD collection has 55 discs. So Sanity have messed up their catalogue me thinks.

I thought that was likely going to be the case. I just wasn't sure, because there is no listing for the DVD set on JB's, Sanity's, or EzyDVD's websites.

When I mean flimsy, I mean a crappy cardboard box. Much like the Aussie release of re-imagined Battlestar Galactica OR even worse, the Aussie Mad Men set. Simply a thin cardboard box that you open from the top (flip top) and the individual cases are inside… You turn it upside down to get to the BD cases, essentially having them fall out! The cardboard box these sets come in would get crushed if you applied any kind of force to it!!

Hoping for The X-Files Australian release to be something like, at the very least, the equivalent of Aussie releases of The Sopranos and Supernatural 1-6 OR the UK House box set, for example.
The Sopranos has a cardboard cover that reveals a hard case to hold the amarays in.
Supernatural's cover lifts up to reveal six amarays in a hard cover box (seasons sticking out), and the UK House release is similar to the Supernatural set…Only better quality.

I hope the boxset is good quality. But I think we should be greatful were even getting a complete series blu ray, half the time we miss out on complete sets for shows like Lost which never got released here. Sometimes I wished every country's releases were the same, boxset, cases and content and all.

Its ashame that JB HI FI seems to be the only place to get the set. I was hoping Big W, Kmart or Target would have them, as I would imagine they would be cheaper. Kmart is having a boxset sale, and sadly no X-Files.

Ha Ha, don't bet on it. I think you'll just get a cardboard box with all the season amarays just stuffed in it.
Coming close to release date, I'm in two minds whether to cancel my pre-order and wait it out a bit since i aint gonna watch it all that soon after rewatching it all just a year and a bit ago. Wait for the price to drop and wait to see if any authoring glitches turn up on the discs-since there will be so many of them.

Price has dropped to 99.99 GBP on Amazon UK, which excluding shipping is 83.33. Already cancelled my Zavvi order.
