I can't say I'd miss the Williamson bits, because they're obvious additions that make no sense in the narrative of the film and stick out a mile, but I'd miss Jason Miller. The Gemini's end in the novel is a bit of an anticlimax, so I wonder how Blatty actually filmed that originally.

Interesting factoid: Nicol Williamson is namechecked in the novel Legion, since Blatty was a huge fan of his, which is why he crops up in ExIII.

Exactly right. The hi-fi stereo on the VHS is superior to the horrid DVD/Blu-Ray 5.1 mix. There's surround activity and directional effects that all end up in the flippin' CENTER CHANNEL in the 5.1 "remix". It's embarrassing it was never corrected.

Agreed, but I do like his character. The way he is introduced into the film, showing his tender nature(taking care of an injured bird). And when I saw the film theatrically, the shot of him entering the hospital to take on the devil brought the house down.

I've always wanted to see this film as intended, but I definitely will miss Williamson and especially Miller. Oh well I guess, bring it on! I'm ready!!

I remember almost swallowing my tongue when I got to that passage; thought I'd fallen down the rabbit hole.

They should release the director's cut of Exorcist II packed with a lot of bonus content. It isn't great as the original, but far better than Exorcist III, IMO this one sucks.

The second is atrocious. This one is quite good; not having seen Dominion, it is my personal favorite. It actually scares me, which only happened with two other movies.

I haven't seen Dominion yet.
Exorcist III is the worst for me, I didn't liked it when I saw it. I prefer Exorcist II, at least it have Linda Blair as Regan and a great soundtrack.

Considering that it was an enormous flop upon release as well as being regarded as one of the worst films of all time, that won't be happening.

Just got debunked

https://twitter.com/KermodeMovie/sta...24027055362050

Would love to know why Blatty confirmed it originally

I call bullshit. Morgan Creek have been teasing it on their Twitter for ages. My guess is that Blatty spoke too soon and now he's backtracking.

Yeah, I'll listen to Blatty and Morgan Creek before Mark Kermode. They've been teasing this since September and I highly doubt Blatty was simply commenting on Twitter hints.

Man, I hope you're right. I was looking forward to finally seeing the original cut.
