Normally not. Its just in that region.

No clue. I just remember seeing it in 2013-2014 and getting excited too with nothing to come of it.

I wouldn't bet the farm on any part of the anime TV series ever seeing Blu-ray, especially the pre-HD episodes. The cel-animated episodes COULD conceivably be re-telecined with HD scans from the (probably 16mm) film, and the episodes could be re-synced to the English audio (they could even undo some of the edits!) but that's never going to happen. We're talking about hundreds of episodes of a children's anime, and they probably don't have the original film anymore. If Case Closed can't get a proper HD remaster, neither can Pokemon.

You know what be great, if a Blu-ray season set(s) like that also contained some great extras including interviews and commentaries with the English cast and crew and the legacy of the franchise in America (as well as Japan).

They did remaster the first episode in HD for the Japanese Pokémon show. I wouldn't rule anything out, but it does sadly seem unlikely that we'll see a complete box set.

This link has the pictures comparing the old version of the episode - I Choose You with the new remastered version.

In Japan the first remastered episode was released on DVD on a compilation of episodes from Season 1.

I know the first one is pretty awful, but the third one is legitimately good and is very nostalgic for me. I might pick up the DVD version of Pokemon: The Movie 3.

I loved and still love the third Pokemon movie. The nostalgia simply overflows from me when I even think about first getting the movie on VHS in 2001, feels like so long ago.

I love all 3 of them, the 3rd one is definitely the best but all 3 have something that make them great individually. I remember going to see the first one in the theater and i was 15 at the time and all these little kids running around. I felt so completely out of place.

Guys, we have any more info on the aspect, audio and extras to be featured on these?

Or do we still assume 2.0 stereo and 1.33:1-cropped-to-1.78:1 aspect ratio? With no extras?

I don't know about sound, but these should be in their native 1.78:1 ratios with no cropping.

If we go off of the Australian release of this set released last month (which I'd say is safe) then they will be uncropped in their original widescreen presentation.

Keeping with the Australian Blu-ray which I expect to be identical.. no extra features or Pikachu shorts.

Oh, 1.78:1 was native? I don't know where in the hell I read that it was 1.33 cropped to 1.78.

That's even better. Can't wait for their release, 2.0 audio or not. I'd hope for at least 5.1 DD but - I don't think any release of these movies has that, do they?

Took this comment from a user review on the Australian blurays. Ooooh...if it has this codec...the movie is going to sound incredible. Better than my crappy DivX rip.

Quote:
Audio wise basically saves the release, DTS-HD MSTR 5.1 audio track is an absolute beauty.

All of that, plus missing opening credits from the first movie. The opening scene plays as is, but the credits are gone.

Interesting. I know on the 2014 Cartoon Network airing of the "remaster" they had credits on the opening so we'll have to see how it plays out.

I'm just assuming it will be identical to the Australian release because of how close they were released and given that the packaging is the same steelbook type.
