That also features an unused song written for the movie called Love Changes All.

sitting here - went into the garage and found the DVD + CD set...... and listening to the CD

ok.. now that this is coming out... what about another 1980 title......

CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC ???

(I went to the world premiere of this - here in Sydney Australia).

A Jenner commentary ???
When you look back at Xanadu and Can't Stop - there are no 'musicals' as such anymore.

We got one pretty darn close this year, and it's somehow less likely to hit Blu-ray than either of the above.

I blame the 'Just Say No' campaign.

Im sure they include the DVD's featurette and the Photo gallery, but I'm hoping for something new. Maybe a modern critique or interviews or lookback.

The DVD featurette on the Magical Edition was a new one. I'm hoping for the older 1980 syndicated "Making Xanadu" TV special.

The Midnight Special had a special Xanadu show back in the day, but doubt licensing will allow it to appear on this blu-ray release.

Very happy to see this. I assumed that this was one of my favorites which would never make it to blu.

BEST fashion trend of the 1980s: Short shorts for women.

WORST fashion trend of the 1980s: Short shorts for men (you do NOT want to see pictures of me taken in 1980!)

But it's too much fun to knock "Xanadu"

Who you trying to impress by doing so? Xanadu fans are already aware that it's no masterpiece. That's not the point. It's just a fun movie, so you really just come across as a bit of a dick.

We already KNOW it's a bad movie......but that doesn't stop us from loving it. I for one pre-ordered it and can't WAIT till it arrives.

Wow. March is going to be a good month for my dream list.

Xanadu is one I have really been waiting for. It is one of the few movies that I have purchased on every format as I have upgraded, over the years. The laserdisc sounded great and included ... a trailer. I doubt seriously if they will go to the expense to produce any extras for it, but I really think Gene Kelly's last movie really deserves better -- though it might be argued that he probably deserved a better last movie. For all of its faults, everyone involved is obviously having a blast, and they clearly felt that they were paying tribute to a proud legacy of Hollywood musicals. Sure, sure, they might have fallen short, but it was enough fun that it went to Broadway. And sometimes, fun is all that is necessary.

I was unaware that the more recent DVD had any extras other than the soundtrack (which I already owned). Had I known, I might have bought it, too, though I still have my original DVD release.

Super excited for all of the other releases, as well. Yes, even Howard the Duck. I'm still amazed that they even tried to make it as a live-action movie (because they didn't want to), and I'm still hoping that Disney makes good on that bumper at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy.

And, yes, DrunkenPumpkin, Two of a Kind would be a great release, too. Though again, it is clearly one of those the quality of which I completely acknowledge and then simply enjoy the hell out of, because life is too short to be a stick in the mud every time.

Seriously: doesn't everyone have at least one "that" movie? The one you simply can't defend, but love just the same? Okay, fine. I have, like, a dozen, which is probably more than my quota, but that's just more for me to love!

I hope you were just kidding, I think part of the reason for the film's failure was his having been in the film.

I have the film on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD (both the standard edition, as well as the Special Edition), and now I can finally retire the DVDs and stick with the bluray. This is the best news that I have read all year, YAY!!!!!
Similar to my experience, I had just moved from a small town in northern MN to Minneapolis for college, and I took the bus downtown Minneapolis one day and went to the Skyway Theater (closed some time ago, of course). It was playing in their #1 house, and I remember how loud they had it in stereo and loved the whole experience, I ended up taking that bus 12 times downtown to see it.
