There were only a handful of people in the theater when I saw this several weeks ago. Maybe it's because the reviews have been mostly bad and my expectations were really low, but I enjoyed it.

It could have used better editing, and did feel like one mini-movie and then a shorter full-length feature attached to it after that.

There is some good stuff here. Easily worth a rental.

I’m pretty much on the same level. Wasn’t as insufferable as I feared, it was a decent time waster, but didn’t nearly fulfill the promise it had and only really mustered up a few decent observations.

For me it's still hard to believe that Alexander Payne would have made a bad movie. Almost all of his titles made my top 10 of the year they were released. And the trailer, which is often described as 'boring' or 'stupid-looking', gave me all the right vibes once again. It feels and breathes Payne. I hope I'm right in trusting the man.

Too bad there isn't some unique marketing campaign for the home release. A shrunk down version of the BR Disc case but then how would you play the movie? Even if you do a mini disc, you would not have BR quality on the disc

The collectible mini ticket from Regal was nice but I think there was a print error where all the tickets were 1 of 500?

'Downsizing' Opens 2nd Evia Film Project

Quote:
On Tuesday, Alexander Payne’s “Downsizing” opened the 2nd Evia Film Project, in the presence of the two-time Oscar-winning director.

The green initiative was launched by the Thessaloniki Film Festival last year to offer support to Northern Evia following the devastating 2021 wildfires. The event runs to June 24 with an enhanced program.

Got around to watching this after finding it on clearance at a Big Lots a while back. This movie just seemed like multiple scripts crammed together into one overly long movie. The focus on Leisureland was pretty fun until the movie really started to take a weird turn. Much of the movie ended up being really boring to the point where I was half-watching while browsing online. I wanted to like this since it seems like a premise with a lot of room to explore, but the second half of the movie just wasn't doing it for me and the downsizing concept seemed forgotten.
