Meh, £80 is a bit pricey especially since it doesn't include the season pass.

The standard game alone is £60 though! So they're charging £20 for CoD4 remaster.

Sure I'd rather just pay £20 for that, but I know if they released it stand alone they would just charge full whack. I'll most likely wait for the pre order to show up on Tesco Direct and get it with my staff discount.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare features fully seamless ground to orbit transition, mission choices, customizable jet...

Quote:
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will allow players to pilot a transforming fighter plane that can be upgraded and customized.

The fighter, referred to in the game as a Jackal, "can transform between atmospheric flight mode and zero-G flight mode for when you have to dogfight in the vacuum of space," Infinity Ward design director Jacob Minkoff explained in an interview with IGN
Quote:
According to Minkoff, Infinite Warfare will offer a seamless experience in which players are fully invested in not only their character, but also their vehicle. "It's kind of the Top Gun fantasy," he explained, noting that "it's your fighter that you get to upgrade and customize. You get to walk along the flight deck and have the flight crew preparing it for you and saluting you and you get into it and you fly out into these crazy missions that you chose to go to."

Instead of fragmenting the game by shoehorning in vehicle sequences, "they are seamlessly woven into the fiction of the character and the mechanics of the game," providing an experience that Minkoff described as being "completely holistic."

In this way, "you can be boots on ground, fighting through the streets of a city on earth, call down your Jackal, get into it, fly up through the atmosphere, engage in a dogfight over the orbit of earth, finish that dogfight, land on the deck of the carrier, get into the carrier, go up to the bridge, and order your ship to go to the next mission and all of it happens seamlessly with no loading screens."
Quote:
With regard to the balance between on-foot gameplay and vehicle-based sequences, Minkoff couldn't give a specific ratio, but emphasized that "Call of Duty is about having a gun in your hand, ducking behind cover, and shooting guys. And that is going to be the primary loop that you engage in through the majority of the game."

Activision are on crack! An additional $30 for a ported over from best-possible PC assets version of a game dating back to frickin' 2007 for cryin' out loud and featuring a campaign that defined the phrase 'bullet Ridden Checkpoint Stampede'! This signals the fact that they are absolutely scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one, folks. They are THAT desperate to get this thing selling better than Ghosts!

We all wanted CoD4 back we got it. Just sucks that we have to buy a game we don't want to play it. But it's much more than just using the old PC assets. It's pretty much completely new, new textures, lighting all sorts remastered for modern hardware.

I noticed they mentioned HDR for this game. That leads me to think it will be optimised for PS4K, since the game is launching after October and as far as I'm aware PS4 right now doesn't do HDR.

Mav, if they ARE doing a total remaster of this game from the ground up, then so be it, but i haven't encountered a 3rd party title that isn't simply a port of best-possible PC assets in any form plugged into a DX11 game engine. We'll wait and see how it rolls out.

Legacy Pro Edition is a GAME exclusive in the UK, £110, saving you a grand total of £10 over buying the legacy edition and season pass separately. Though you do get a steelbook, soundtrack etc but still too expensive.

They say they have gone back and redone the animations as well as the audio on top of everything else, so I think it might be a bit more involved than just taking the old PC assets. But you never know, I guess this is what Digital Foundry is here for

The comparisons to the old PC version and the remaster are pretty impressive though, the PC version looks like a PS3 game

I'm not even remotely surprised they bundled this in with the new game. I would expect nothing else from Activision. It buffs up pre-order numbers, overall sales and brings in a bit of extra dough. And then when that all dies down, they'll probably just put it out standalone and sell it again.

That said, I adored cod4 when I first got my PS3, and I haven't touched a cod game since maybe mw3/bo2. I'll consider the new one for cod4, and maybe once we hear some feedback on how this new game actually plays.

I would probably double dip for a standalone only if it was a physical release. I'm a bit disappointed that it's just a digital code that we get.

It's BS marketing guys There's no doubt that after a few months they'll sell the remaster by itself. Of course they won't be upfront with us right now if it will have a standalone. They want everyone to buy the bundle first.

I have a feeling MW had more than that but probably not much more. Maybe 12-14? Either way I am excited for this. I actually think Infinite Warfare looks pretty solid and I'll definitely buy the game. I'll be opting for a release that includes the MW remaster.
I'm pretty sure it shipped with 16 maps and then added 4 with a map pack. So 20, which means half aren't included in the remaster...yet.

They can milk that cash cow down the road.
I'll buy the new game for the remaster, then if it does become available separately I'll just trade

Well Killhouse never EVER came up in the game modes that I played (DOM mostly) - apparently it was too small - erm, Shipment was in DOM rotation....

Chinatown was a redress of the COD2 MP map 'Carantan' - I actually didn't mind that one at all. Broadcast, was ok too.

Creek, started out as my favourite 'new' map, and eventually became my least favourite. Tries to be Overgrown, but isn't...

I think the biggest strike again the newer maps was that they weren't as good as the original 16 - although that says more about the original lot being so damned good IMO.

Primary reason the original maps were so great - you could employ almost any play style on those maps, and make it work - want to run and gun? No problem. Want to find a quiet corner somewhere and snipe? No problem. My god, you could actually snipe on those maps! Properly! Not like now where you can run and quick-scope, and that's almost literally the only point of sniper rifles in the current games....
