I would love to work on them, but it's really up to the licensing gods. Sometimes you get what you want, sometimes someone else gets it. All you can do is roll with the punches.
I understand, it's never as easy as we think I'm sure, all is good. Still got to have those wish titles though.

I love the bluray by the way, like I said I compared my old DVD and it's night and day.

Now that would be one awesome Christmas As long as we are doing KOR, maybe they could somehow get animeigo s great linear notes.

Thank you to you and all at Discotek. What a magnificent time to be alive, we are now getting pristine releases of these classics from a company that really cares.

Unfortunately, my copy of this film is stalled since I ordered it with Robot Carnival hence my delivery from RightStuf is still weeks away. But I will be getting two great films soon, patience, patience

Same here -- I ordered both during the Discotek sale. I can wait a few weeks. It's not like I haven't seen UY2: Beautiful Dreamer. I'm honestly more excited about Robot Carnival. I read that the original negative was actually altered back in the day to create the English version. So Discotek had to restore it.

My copy arrived at the office in Sydney yesterday morning, so I gave it a watch last night.
I think it looks great, don't know why people were comparing it to an upscaled DVD...

Was at a loss on which audio track to select with all the options I was given

Mine came a couple of days ago and I sampled it. It looks great to me. One thing I wondered after watching the 'old credits' though, which were not widescreen-- there appeared to be more on the top and bottom of that. Is this one of those things that was animated 4x3 and cropped for 16x9 in theaters? Or maybe I saw things wrong.

Which is exactly why I am struggling to buy this or not. There is a reason the Japanese fans were pissed the 4:3 versions weren't included in the JP release. While it was cropped for theaters, my main viewings have always been 4:3 via vhs/dvd/ld.

It probably won't get a 4:3 Blu-ray, so it would come down to how much you want it in HD

I was a bit surprised about the advertisement after the credits:

Even today a simultaneous cinema and home video release is almost unheard of.

Today that would be apparently somewhere around ¥17190 when adjusted to inflation.

Yeah, people cry about the blu ray prices of today, but back in the day video prices were insane, somewhat due to the rental market. Lds were almost always over $100 over here due to importing/handling fees, and vhs weren't much better, I remember paying $70 per episode for Stardust Memory.

Meanwhile people complain about a whole series costing $59.99. And back in Japan, they never walked away from the old video model, which Aniplex carries over here to Murica, and people flip out.

(Get off my lawn.)

times change. Companies need to adapt or else they get left in the dust. Very few companies are afforded the same luxury as Aniplex where their faithful customers will support them no matter what. People have choices now and that's great. There's no shortage of new anime, or ways to watch them. Life is sweet. 'murica.

While we are working on Maison Ikkoku, KOR and UY, I think we should also be looking at Touch, Future Boy Conan, and Tokimeki Tonight.
