Agreed! I always stubbornly disliked Costner because of the chick flicks he's done until I saw the criminally underrated 3000 Miles to Graceland and witnessed Costner giving one of the best villainous performances in film history in that film and have been a fan ever since even though he does have some films I don't like. A Perfect World is a great film though. It's a little too long IMO especially with the third act dragging out a little longer than it needed too but other than that it's aces.

Personally, I don't see any of those as road movies. Having just watched The Night of the Hunter, it didn't remind me of one at all. The river sequence is ultimately far too short of a scene, if that is the "road" part of it.

The rest just don't feel like it as being a defining genre, but that is up to jabbercash.

I'm not a huge Costner fan, but I actually think it's one of his best films/performances. He's insanely charismatic in the film and definitely elevates it. Definitely one of the better road films.

Haven't see Night of The Hunter, but I don't consider any of those road films. I would say they are somewhat "polluted" by the fact that there's too many other elements. It's the same reason why I wouldn't consider Forrest Gump a road movie. Sure he travels around and there's scenes of him on the road, but there's so much going on in the story that it doesn't feel like the focus.

I guess too few people have seen it. Or they have but didn't like it. Or they've forgotten all about it. Or I'm the only one that counts it as a road movie.

On an unrelated note I'm not sure I'll be able to come up with a full top 20. Managed to get to 10. But struggling to think of more eligible movies that I've seen.
I haven't seen Broken Flowers, but if you're in need of examples read through some other people's choices on the thread or see the wiki page on road movies for other examples.

It's definitely a road movie...it just missed out on my top 20.

I liked Broken Flowers, just not good enough for the first 20 in my book. I'm rooting for more About Schmidt votes, one of Nicholsons' finest and often forgotten performances.

Is it ok if they are listed in no particular order or do they have to be in order?

They have to be in numbered, otherwise it's impossible to count the points.

Anyway, my final list. If any are ineligible let me know and I'll remove them.
Thanks for participating! They all look good to me.
