Yeah but were you gonna see the movie before this news?

This forum is generally too immature to discuss sensitive issues (hence the site rules) and there are enough of the anti-PC crowd ready for another Ghostbusters-type thread so there's a good chance this will continue to morph into one.

I don't think there are very many SJWs on here.

Maybe? I saw the Smurf films and if done in a light like how Barbie and Ken looked in Toy Story I'd check it out. I am gonna watch Trolls when it comes out on blu, so nostalgia may very well get me to watch it.

Imagine if Kevin Smith was playing He-Man, wouldn't people scratch their heads and ask why?

So you believe that those people are worse than the real-world versions of the antagonists in films like Schindler's List or Room?

Can't wait for this movie to become the most political thing in America, like the Ghostbusters reboot. 5 pages in and we've already got people talking about the Holocaust.

Maybe they can get Chelsea Handler to play Skipper.

I disagree. Based on the quoted post then it was implicitly invoked back on page 4. I simply asked for clarification as to whether or not doing so was the poster's intent.

Jem and the Holograms' source material is absolutely ripe for a more risque, out of control adaptation. Problem was that Universal and Blumhouse went the totally wrong direction with it.

What they did to Jem was outrageous. Truly, truly outrageous.

No kidding.

What should've been the trippy hard PG-13 lovechild of Wayne's World, Rock & Rule, This Is Spinal Tap, A Hard Day's Night, Pink Floyd: The Wall, Rock of Ages, Tenacious D & the Pick of Destiny and The Neon Demon was instead made into a supersoft PG milquetoast Justin Bieber/Hannah Montana inspired piece of mush for little kids.

(Most) of the casting was right, but the execution was really, really off-base, but I still enjoyed the film in spite of it's (massive) flaws.

That's completely fair, but others could, and in my case at least did. Diversity.

And it's far from just that, I didn't throw in Room as an afterthought. I could have mentioned Shawshank Redemption, or lots of other films too. Maybe when others think of the evil that men do then their minds immediately go to the bad guy in Smurfs. That's probably a good thing for them, but others have seen worse, sometimes much worse.

I'd agree with that poster that mocking someone for their looks isn't good, it's not something that I've ever done, but compared to lots of other stuff then it doesn't seem to me as bad. I was just trying to better understand that mentality.

Kevin Smith would make for a better He-Man than Amy Schumer as Barbie.

At least Smith's He-Man would have a better chance of being really funny...and weird for the right reasons.

Yeah, this whole thing really is pretty baffling.

If only there were some document of some sort that explains what the filmmakers are going for and why Schumer might be a good fit for their project.

But it's okay for guys to be fat, and not okay for chicks to be fat.

BTW, I think someone earlier in the thread got Amy Schumer confused with Lena Dunham.
