Those snail mail coupons take a while to arrive once you sign up for membership.

If you're certain about joining, now's the time to get started so they'd reach you by the first or second week of July.

Also note they email discount codes every now and then... which can used online/in-stores.
Gotcha. Just confused on what the difference is between the "snail pack" coupons and the standard one item 20% ones.

Technically they're the same thing.

What's different here is you receive a set of 2-4 coupons all at once by post that can be used for B&N purchases.

Ohhhh I see. And this is where you begin to stack them on criterions or something if that's allowed.

Depends on the staff members, if they'd let you stack coupons it varies store to store.

Suppose they allow it and you'd like to purchase a say.... $50 boxset.

You may use a $5 off 50, $8 off 40, 20% along with your usual 10% members discount.

But that's wishful thinking for most of us ever since they started denying any further discounts on Criterions.

Thank you all so much! I think my safest bet at the moment is to wait until the sale and see what people say on coupon usage. Especially since it doesn't seem like I'll be able to get the snail packs in time...

I am intrigued by the random 20% off ones though every so often. I'll look more into it I think.

I am really not one to be the "thread police" and care too much about "off-topic" posts, but every time this gets a bump, I keep thinking there are new Amazon deals - ya know, the intended purpose of this thread.

There are several BN threads already - can everyone take all of this to one of those? Please?

Thanks.

Thanks.

BTW, I hope you didn't think I was targeting you or your post specifically - I was referring more in general to the last page or two of this thread.

Edit: Dropped a lil more in price.
I'm still on the fence with this one. I believe the only other Nicholas Ray film I have is "Bigger Than Life", which for me was a little disconcerting.

It's pretty different from Bigger Than Life. If you're a fan of noir, it's a must buy.

Just Ordered! I noticed it dropped a few more cents from yesterday. How much lower will it go? Who knows! Anyway, it's cheaper than a certain B&M's upcoming sale(without membership and no coupons).

Now TLBN is down to 16.55! Is this a good blind buy if I'm into noir and black and white film?

I just canceled first order that was placed yesterday, and re-ordered at $16.55 plus tax, which saves about $0.73.

Since it's a black and white film noir, yes.

Likely time to start watching drops on September's pre-order of Othello as well.

Amazon's not displaying a list price, but it's two discs, so it's a $49.95 title instead of a $39.95.

Already down in the 53% off range.

I think you'll love it ... so go ahead!

It's also one of Nicholas Ray's best works.

Idk I say I'm into noir but all I've seen are Maltese Falcon and Lang's "M" (if that even counts). Not sure I wanna pull the trigger when there are so many criterions I want next month....

They Live By Night is now down to $16.22. I'm tempted too, but I also don't know if I want to pull the trigger. There are so many other Criterions I want more. Plus, I ordered a couple of other things already. I hope Tampopo reaches this price, but I doubt it will.

Sure, that sentiment is totally understandable however you guys are missing out on such a fabulous movie.

With Criterions we'll always be spoilt for choice but They Live by Night is a film with excellent replay value.

I myself have chosen to watch the price slide, any further reduction and I'll place an order right away.
