Interesting. Thanks, I'll ponder it a bit. The extent of my 3D consumption is in the theater - so my judgement is limited to that. If I can skip the 3D, I usually do unless it's a big blockbuster, and I never lament it's absence at home. But if it's good in the theatre I have fun with it. I wouldn't be questioning it for this had it not been for the bizzare number of 3D showings at the local cinema.

Did they drop 3D from this release? I'm not seeing it in the description.

I don't think that was ever an option.

Sadly when a lot of 3D steelbooks are released worldwide we don't end up getting a US 3D version of the exact same steelbook and they force you to buy a standalone copy upwards of $29.99. It's either time to import or double dip.

You won't regret it man. I took the plunge last month and now I'm craving more 4K. It's beautiful...like you could almost step inside your TV.

I don't have 4k tv or player yet but I am thinking about buying 4k for future proofing my collection. I am a little hesitant because I am afraid it will die like 3D.

I would argue 4k is a progressive necessity, so you're safe. It's the same reason we stopped playing DVDs on our early 40" TVs - you've gotta account for the TV size increasing, and need the resolution to do it. So with TVs getting bigger, and image reproduction improving, it just seems like natural progression. Comprably, 3D is at it's core an added novelty, whether you enjoy that or feel it enhances the movie or not is up to you. 3D will always be 3D (in varying degrees of execution, mind you) no matter what you slap it on.

Yes it's incredible compared to the TV I had. I haven't really had the chance to watch a 4k disc yet, just watched a UHD title through vudu, which I'm sure watching from disc will be even better. But now I'm regretting not doing more future proofing in the past by just buying standard blu steels.

Thanks. I misunderstood someone's comment about 3D then. That's a bummer. Guess I'll have to import it then.

I like the colors of that artwork, but don't like Iron Man being in it. I didn't mind the idea of him being in the movie, but after realize how little screen time he actually has, that cover makes it seem like they're a team working together through the movie.

Either way, still pre-ordered.

Luckily I started future proofing when Suicide Squad came out. Was going to wait till Black Friday to get a 4K TV but Best Buys had a sale on a Samsung for $629 and I couldn't resist. 4K movies are glorious!

I ended up putting my 3D TV in my "fun" room so I can still enjoy my 3D titles.

If they really did invert the artist's signature...what a fail
That guy is the "Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development" according to his Instagram. The artwork was originally used for the Art of Spider-Man: Homecoming book. They did more than just invert the image, as they moved the characters, then added the signature, without adding Peter Parker.

True but Sony released Amazing Spider-Man 2 in August from a May release. So yeah, 3 months. Wouldn't be surprised with an October release either. Extra features should be dope.

Willing to bet it's gonna be exactly like zavvi's with the "removable" spider. It falls in line with Marvel's recent stint of steelbooks where it's an object from the movie (like the book from Dr. Strange, Tapedeck from Guardians, Hard Drive from Ant-Man, etc.)

Well obviously. But we don't know if that was the official artwork or not.

I really hope not. If so I'm going to have to pass on this as well.
