Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime. ~Potter Stewart
Potter Stewar... really? A man who used the 1866 Civil Rights Act to create just one of his own varieties of censorship. Just saying. Add these to your reading list and reconsider the inadvertent salute to censorship that comes in many guises. Don't worry, they're all film based, one way or another. You'll be edified. This entire Steelbook re-releasing on Zavvi's part is utterly scurrilous. It makes a mockery of the so-called limited edition, what, because it's 2 years later and comes with new artwork (and inferior artwork at that).
There used to be good reason for the film enthusiast / collector to double, triple dip that usually concerned transfers being correctly (or icorrectly) flagged for progressive playback. The absence or inclusion of audio commentaries, among other extras. The cut status of a film. What's going on now and has been since the advent of BD, is s-c-a-n-d-a-l-o-u-s - as if it wasn't before. People who haven't bought the film and want to see it, should buy it if they feel the inclination. People who bought the first Steelbook (many of which scalpers robbed) should be content to have that one and give others the chance that missed out on the chance of the original Steelbooks to find a place for in their collection. Disappointed by the largely 'gerbil' like mentality expressed on this thread. The studios, labels and stores have most contributors here placed exactly where they want you; waiting eagerly with hand in virtual wallet to part with real cash for a duplicate with a different cover. I love a Steelbook but this is getting ludicrous, not to mention ethically questions, morally corrupt and having little to do with film - how many people mentioned they have not yet seen the film? Unless the transfer has in some way been improved, or the list of extras justifies the addition / upgrade... considering parting with cash for another release that has yet to see a UHD release proves studios have succeeded to reducing the intellects of many to that of gerbils. Wow, I am astonished. Last edited by Movie Miscreant; 01-04-2018 at 05:41 AM. |
