I usually agree with statements like this, but not in this case. To be fair, it has been many, many years since I read the book, but the main thing I remember was how the story constantly ground to a halt so we could read long sections of Misery's Return, the book she made him write. At the time I didn't get the point of including all that -- it just felt like padding that added nothing. Maybe I should give it another look.

Looooove that artwork! That's a winner. And a new 4k transfer and Reiner interview makes this a day one

once interesting different about The Shawshank Redemption novella is that they mention the actual crimes Red and Brooks committed. If they had mentioned those in the movies then nobody would have felt sorry for them and would wish they would rot in prison forever

Definitely getting this. I kept putting off getting this on blu, thinking I'd eventually get around to buying this. Looks like good things might come to those who put off doing stuff. Can't turn down a SF release of this classic.

And the irony of your post is that the script for Shawshank was actually LONGER than the book, so its the opposite of being condensed. King even joked about it.

But other than Shawshank, no, The Shining is better as a book.

The Shining is a good book. But it's a great film.

I think we can all agree that "Maximum Overdrive" is the masterpiece of Stephen King adaptations. I mean come on he did direct it!

If I could agree to an extent but then also differ slightly; he doesn't understand that films are different than novels. The Shining may very well be the best example.

I actually think the film is better than the novel. Except in the book she cuts of his legs, if I remember correctly.

I think she chops his foot off before taking a blowtorch to the ankle. She also kills a cop with a lawnmower. Something similar to the latter was filmed but deleted.

Well this just spoiled the interests for someone who wanted to read the book.

Own the second bluray release of this movie, but will gladly double dip since I love releases from Shout Factory. Love the cover art for this and of course with every Shout release you get the reversible theatrical cover art. No questions asked.

I don't think you can complain about 30 year old spoilers.

How much are SF releases usually on release date?

I like it but not at that price. I'd almost rather grab the $8 one
