Would be nice if 'Merica got the 4K preorder. Seems like we are always last for everything. If it doesn't come out here then I will have to import from the UK.

The instant a 4K steelbook shows up I will order it. IT is my favorite book, and right up to the point of when I was watching the movie I had refused to believe that they had pulled it off. But they did. Jesus, they did.

There's an in depth interview with the film's editor on ProVideoCoalition, numerous details on cut scenes (Bill at home with his parents, Henry with his dad, longer Ben library scene, longer quarry scene, Stan's bar mitzvah scene which was trimmed (you can hear his speech in the MTV clip/trailer), etc, etc), there was a director's cut clocking in just under three hours, that was before studio notes & test screenings. The assembly cut (not a sloppy one according to the editor) was 3 hours & 40 min.
They had a lot of test screenings, and had to refine the cut, we know there's also a flashback scene with It, probably a version of the cabin passage in the book, they're probably saving it for chapter two, along with the Black Spot which Andy Muschietti said would make a great opening. Now that he'll probably a much larger budget (this one only cost 35 million) on the sequel, he'll be able to go nuts, introduce the weirder, more out there elements (wink wink),; etc Guessing we'll see a version of the smoke hole considering Andy's comments in interviews, along with extensive flashbacks with the kids. The film is excellent, but it moves too fast, I doubt it bothers non fans, but you can tell they cut a lot of the nuance, I want more of everything, let the film breathe, more character, more of every loser, more of Mike which was really shorthanded compared to the book. A lot of streamlining and changes were made for obvious reasons, but this could really use those possible 15 minutes, and hopefully more, this will take the film to great territory. Also, about people commenting on the softness sometimes, not seeing it, but the film was shot (per article in American Cinematographer) on the Alexa XT with Panavision G-series lenses (anamorphic) mixed with Primos (spherical), so you get that delightful fuzziness on the edges of the frame, and anamorphic also helps take the digital edge off (although it still looks very very clean & smooth), and you also get that extremely cool barrel distortion on straight lines. If you think about it, an extended/director's cut also allows New Line to market the UHD/BD as "Unrated"/"Not Rated", which they have done with many of their major titles (mainly comedies), and which I'm sure they rightly believe will generate a small increase in sales. Given the nature of the film, it will be interesting to see if there is more violence/gore, or if all of the extensions would sit easily within the R-rating, and were cut for pacing/time. Of course, I'm hoping for some of the former, but it expect it to all be the latter, as is so commonplace, nowadays.
