I got rid of my DVD when the BD was announced. Then I was infuriated when I found out how much the film changed for the worse without having an option to watch the theatrical cut.

Pretty sure getting the D&D theatrical DVD back won't be very hard. They made a ton of them, but it may be OOP now not sure. It seems all Warner wants to do is release the unrated cut on any format at this point. There is hope that they could do a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray version someday with both cuts (yes, I know how much you hate the unrated cut but won't happen without both cuts or 1).

Yes, the DVD for the theatrical cut of D&D is about as common as sliced bread, lol. As for the theatrical cut on BD, I think it only happens with the 4K BD format or some kind of 4K remaster BD. Since they have the unrated cut out most consumers would look at the theatrical cut on BD only as a rip off sadly. I think if studio execs read these forums they are well aware there is a demand for the theatrical cut on BD. If it's not included on any future remastered editions either BD or 4K BD, it would be a huge disappointment imo.

Not just that. The artwork doesn’t specify “unrated” either AND Zavvi confirmed to me that it was indeed the theatrical cut upon my direct inquiry. They guaranteed me the theatrical cut and delivered me the unrated cut. THAT is what the big hoopla is about. If we knew BEFORE the damn thing shipped, we could have just avoided it altogether. However, they charged us and shipped us a different item than was promised and we didn’t find out until AFTER paying. It’s fraudulent bullshit.

I hear ya, believe me I have been actively reading this thread and I know all about it. Was just making a lol at how messy and disappointing this hoopla all is. Yes, Zavvi does have the responsibility of correctly marketing products. In this case they failed bigtime. Putting Dumb and Dumber unrated on the steelcase and spine would have solved the whole thing. The people at Zavvi that said it's the theatrical probably don't know there was an unrated cut out.

Damn, should have waited but the "confirmation" made me feel confident to buy it. Mine hasn't arrived yet but I guess I will be returning it.

I e-mailed them AND responded to their Twitter DM right away demanding my money back immediately as soon as I found out. A few hours after that, I tweeted out a warning about the item with “BUYER BEWARE.” A couple of hours after that they responded to my tweet asking me to DM them so they could look into it for me. I replied to their tweet reply stating that I had already DMed them several hoirs prior. Nobody has responded to me since.

There is a horrendous amount of incompentent fail happening with this release... far more than Zavvi’s usual incompetence.

A long time ago I decided I was going to keep my original DvD’s and just put them in the case w/the Blu-rays to make my own BD/DVD combos. To be honest, the reason was my dvd’s were still gettng lots of use was because my 10 inch drop down screen in my vehicles for my kids. This is one of those rare situations where I made a good decision. I also prefer the TC of the movie. So ya, I was following this thread w/hope too. Glad I didn’t hold my breath though. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna go put in the old TC dvd now.

Maybe it's an elaborate publicity stunt that involves them being super dumb.....only for them to turn it all around and send us deluxe special editions of the theatrical cut, restored in 4K from the original camera negative.

Now I'm really glad that I waited for people to get this in hand and confirm which version it is. I'll be sticking with my DVD for the foreseeable future.

It's probably the unrated cut on the disc but only source we have so far is a BR.com poster stating the discs runtime. Anyway we need another source confirming it is indeed the unrated cut. I still am excited to get this in steelbook packaging even if it didn't live up to the hype (theatrical cut on disc).
