The 3d is pretty unremarkable in this film and I'll bet it was really confusing for the guys at Cinemablend. They won't have to take off their glasses to see some blur so they won't ever be sure if it's in 3d. I noticed one 'good' pop-out in the flick where
[Show spoiler] . I'm thinking Tomb Raider quality. Aside from that it was a moderately humorous cartoon. I give it 2 1/2 stars.

The main thing that child (or person with a small interocular distance) would have trouble with is being physically able to convergence on 3D with larger interaxials. My guess is that the brain and intrinsic eye muscles would do just fine. Whether a child is patient enough to wear a pair of glasses for very long, is a different story.
PSA: Children begin developing binocular vision at age 4 months. As long as they can see 3D, they should be safe to enjoy it. There's no medical reason to withhold 3D or VR from children. |

Was it my age? I don't think so. Sixty-five years later today's 3-D is mostly pretty tepid.... but my 3D Blu-ray discs of the above titles and a few more look like they did in 1953 and STILL outclass just about every 3D release (if we are lucky enough to get one!) of today. Wish Scorsese, whose Hugo (shot in 3D) should have won that Best Pic Oscar, would get back in the game again. |

View-Master rarely exploited the pop-out effect, but I do remember the Baseball All-Stars set pushing the tip of the bat forward and outside the window. |

Just got back from a 3D matinee and I would have to agree that the 3D isn't particularly impressive. In fact, in the beginning, like the first 20 min, I actually found myself wishing I had gotten a 2D ticket instead because of the visual style of the film. Things in the foreground and background that are meant to be "out of focus" are presented as a double image, like a 3D movie without the glasses. So because the movie WAS in 3D and there was still a double image, I found it visually distracting.
I eventually got used to it, but the visual style of the movie - while super awesome and cool - doesn't always lend itself well to 3D. Once the action picked up the 3D also improved, and there was a lot of great depth and some pop-outs during the climactic fight scene. It's a terrific movie, and one of the best Spidey movies ever, but I don't think I'm going to be disappointed when this doesn't get a 3D Blu-ray release in the US. |

I saw this in IMAX 3D last night (early showing) and spent most of the movie trying to figure out why the background looked like 3D without the glasses. I kept removing my 3D glasses to see what affect that would have. The foreground was definitely in 3D but the background appeared to be intentionally multi-layered. Even though the main characters and foreground on most scenes were "typical" 3D, most of the background was almost like multiple layers of the 3 primry colors and appeared like 3D without glasses (even with the glasses on). As someone mentioned earlier on a 2D viewing, it was almost like they were trying to make the background look like 3 color comic book separation/misprint in the background.
To me, this was very distracting as I couldn't figure out if they had something wrong with the projection setup or if it was supposed to be that way. I was planning to also take in a RealD 3D version later in order to compare. With that said, the IMAX 3D format fit well with this movie. I really liked the large format presentation. I just wasn't a fan of the background comic book blurriness (if indeed that was the way it was supposed to be and not just a local theater screw-up). |

I was wondering why I could find this on Amazon.de. I didn't realize the film was known as "A New Universe" in Germany. The release date seems rather late... May 2, 2019. Hopefully that will get pushed up.
The movie or the 3D? I thought the 3D in Homecoming was excellent. |

The movie. Hell no, Spider-verse is the worst 3D of the year. Homecoming is the worst Spider-man movie ever. 3D was alright, though.

I don't know what you all saw, but having just seen a matinee of this in 3D - the overall effect is what I'd rate as B+ some of the action is a tad too frenetic to catch the dimensionality, but off and on the effect is quite dizzying: looking down walls, buildings, falling snow, swinging through the air between trees, the street - there are ton of instances where the effect is dazzling. Granted the style of animation is very integral to the overall design and look of the film, the 3D boosts that visual intensity.
