Lightbulb 3D Blu-ray Forum Improvement Suggestions, Admin & Moderator Discussion

Should Blu-ray.com forums add a 3D Blu-ray Collection tab on the left of the members side-bar much like the "Blu-ray Collection", "PS3 Collection" ect...

I'd like to know what members are into 3D & check out their collections. As of now thumbing through a persons collection of 500+ Blu's to find what 3D Blu's they own is time consuming!

I'm already at over 50 3D Blu's & find it to be more exclusive for media..

Seeing members "Steelbook collections" would be awesome as well!

Any thoughts? Moderators?

You can add custom sections in your collection and then move titles to that custom section. Check mine out, I have 3D and Steelbook sections

Thanks, that's nice.. I hope more people organize like that, I'll be working on mine... As of tomorrow I'll have 56 3D Blu's..

It's also nice (due to a Brain Injury) when I'm mobile and shopping for Blu-rays & can't remember what titles I own, that I can look it up on my ipad in any store & verify what DVD's, Blu-Rays, & games I already own... Too many times I've bought 5-10 movies on sale only to find out I already own one or more..

I still have a bunch of updating to go as I'm new, but this is great solid info! Thanks!

Myself (and others) just make a category in our own collections. As it's numerical it ends up at the top of the various collections.
That's one way of doing it.

Talking Improvement suggestions and moderator discussion

Can a moderator make the13thman's thread on region b blu rays into a sticky and possibly replace the existing one?

AND

possibly do the same for "how many 3d blu rays do you own".... It has Paul's extensive list of 3d titles that everyone might enjoy seeing; over 500 titles.

Sorry to have to ask like this. Please delete as needed.

Paul should activate his collection on his avatar, lot better than a pinned post.

It would be nice if the site appointed an additional moderator to the 3D forums. I think we're all pretty civil in here, but there are definitely some things that need to be cleaned up (posts in the wrong forum, duplicate threads, threads that should be stickied, etc.). Just my 2 cents.

There is a list of moderators at the bottom of the page where the threads are listed. They have responded fairly quickly when messaged directly.

I would also like to see some of the sticky threads to be unstickied and maybe thrown in a FAQ

Thank you. I will contact them directly. I hope we can get a sticky that will let us figure out how many 3d blu ray titles there are; I thought Paul's list would be a good start to say the least.

I’m willing to volunteer to help moderate this forum if other people aren’t too keen. I’ve been a mod on several other forums including several in the UK and tehparadox.com (now defunct).

I’ve already messaged staff offering my assistance but heard nothing back. I assumed that they weren’t looking for extra help at that time.

I’m aware that this forum section is often plagued by less-than-helpful posts from trolls or those seeking to undermine the love of stereoscopic titles. There is a place for general ‘will 3D die?’ discussions but this particular section is not it.

Thanks.

The moderators don't actively moderate this forum. And to get anything stickied I believe an Admin has to do it.....not a moderator. Not sure why we don't have any moderators for the 3D forums that actually hang out here. Of all the ones listed at the bottom of the page I haven't seen any of them post in here since the time I started. I have asked several times for them to promote at least one dedicated 3D user to moderator status but so far to no avail.

I agree with much of this thread, particularly about the stickies. I'd personally get rid of the last five. If you want to know if something is native, check the native 3D blu ray list or the thread for the film. Or create one if there isn't one.

If need be I'm happy to help moderate or administrate the 3D movies forum, I've been visiting for years and already maintain the two threads most important to me.

Nah, I'll wait till the movie comes out.

If it's replacing an existing one, cool. Otherwise, there are too many stickies already. Some of them are just cluttering up the top and are unnecessary.

Forums need active moderation, not just moderators that can be contacted. Seen lack of active moderation on too many forums.

Default The13thman as Moderator

I have asked all 11 moderators to make the13thman a moderator, with his kind permission. I don't know what else to do. We need him to make the 3d section more streamlined and to help all new (and old) fans of 3d to understand what is out there in 3d blu ray format.

Please help me in any way you can.

Long Live 3d!

I think the13thman would make a very fine moderator, I can't think of anyone better suited.

I'm just not crazy about the idea, because I sometimes end up resenting moderators, and I really like the13thman!

Personally I've found this a very friendly subforum with some great regular members and very little need for active moderation. I can't say I've witnessed much in the way of flamewars and trolling (although there was one exception, which was ultimately dealt with).

The main thing that will occasionally bother me is when people create new threads for movies that have existing threads without checking first. In those situations, I sometimes bump the old thread and hope people will ignore the unnecessary duplicate thread, - but this doesn't always work.

The other thing that is a nuisance is the ongoing series of threads by folks who seem to be ever on the lookout for signs of a 3D apocalypse. The 'dead/doomed' threads. It is endlessly tedious to constantly have to justify the ongoing existence of something we all love. I feel nothing good ever comes from this particular line of inquiry, and it is counter-productive to our interests to dwell on it, but I don't believe moderation should be used to suppress discussion.

In a forum full of reasonable, civil individuals, I'm in favour of light-touch moderation. Only when absolutely neccesary.

I'd agree with that. I tend to ignore sticky threads, I always end up scrolling passed them.

The really good threads tend to remain active and resurface regularly. If it's a popular thread, it doesn't have to be stickied, and will never be too hard to find. Some of these threads are like old friends, I love when they make a reappearance.
