No, but why don't you buy it and see for yourself!

The 3D will be crap I guarantee. If it had anything even approaching a halfway decent conversion we would have had a main thread for it here. These movies were not given a professional 3D conversion, so what's left, either a crappy auto convert or a really, really low fi 3D conversion done by a handful of people. Neither of which will produce anything close to satisfying 3D results.

Same for original Independence Day with Will Smith. Wasn't it supposed to be re-released at some point in 3d, but cancelled. I noticed these same people have that title in 3d as well. Any thoughts?

You should really know by now that if you see a Russian 3D Blu-ray of a Hollywood movie for sale and there are no 3D versions anywhere else in the world, it's guaranteed to be a dreadful autoconverted bootleg.

Please don't fund Russian pirates. Your money will be spent on bad things.

I see in this and other threads people lamenting all the modern 3d films that don't get 3d Blu-ray releases, at least not here in Zone A. But if one is willing to import, and one has made the investment of a multi-zone player, how many NEW 3d films are still completely unavailable?

If you add up the post-1997 lists, native and converted, it's 116 titles.

But the lists aren't comprehensive so there will be more.

Yeah, but what fraction is that of the ones that ARE available in any of my previously mentioned options? And how many of those 116 are titles of MAJOR INTERNATIONAL interest?

I'm not good with fractions but I can say that all 116 titles are of major interest to me, I'd buy each and every one on 3D Blu-ray with no hesitation.

I guess you could say that my opinion in this area is a bit warped as my interest leans heavily towards the "Golden" and "Silver" age 3d work. I honestly haven't found any modern 3d film in which I'm interested that I can't get on 3d Blu-ray. Must be the influence of being a "Grumpy Old Curmudgen".(LOL)

Astro Boy

National Geographic: Sea Monsters
(I saw that at the Smithsonian Museum Imax Theater, it was awesome! The 3d was intense)

Trolls, Ferdinand, Jackass 3D are the ones that stand out for me (MI Fallout if that also fails to get released will be a big blow)

2 more missing from the Post 1997 list (unless I'm blind)

The Last Witch Hunter
Crimson Peak (which is getting yet another non 3D release).
Saw both of these at the cinema in 3D and whatever people thought of the films themselves the 3D was excellent.

As far as I know neither of these movies got a theatrical 3D release. Where did you see them theatrically in 3D?

Saw both films in Sydney Australia in 3D at Event Cinemas. I can look up the dates, if you like.

They were about the last of the 'second tier' movies in 3D to get a 'wide' release in Sydney. Since early 2016 only blockbuster films have got 3D releases and even those are very limited. Mission Impossible:Fallout didn't get a 3D theatrical release in Sydney after seeing the trailers extensively. Meg was the same. So it gets hard to tell what actually gets released in 3D at all. 2 more films I saw trailers for in 3D but not on the list were Ouija and Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (Scouts vs Zombies), but I didn't see the films theatrically. I'm pretty sure Ouija did get 3D sessions though.

A Beautiful Planet, Journey to the South Pacific and Olaf's Frozen Adventure. Along with Found Footage, all missed opportunities. Wish there was a 3D only boutique label that could issue these (assuming licenses were available)

The nature stuff doesn't bother me that much as I tend to skip those anyway--but when a mainstream film was released in 3D in the theater (or pretty much any 3D-rendered animated film) doesn't get a 3D BD release, it really annoys me--like Trolls, Emoji Movie, Ferdinand, Sherlock Gnomes, and Hotel Transylvania 3 just last week. The Found Footage release was so stupid--if people aren't buying good, proper 3D, they certainly aren't going to buy the old red/blue glasses technology.

Train to Busan received a 3D conversion for the mainland China release, but, this film failed to pass the censorship from the film bureau. So a 3D version do exists, but no one will ever see it.

Also, The Host (괴물 / Gwoemul) received a 3D conversion back in 2011 but only got shown in some film festivals.
